Triumph Sprint ST excessive heat

Discussion in 'Motorcycle Technical Discussion' started by aviatorandwriter, Nov 25, 2005.

  1. I'm in the market for a sport tourer. I've looked at a number of bikes
and have narrowed the choices down to the Honda Interceptor and the
    Triumph Sprint ST.
The insurance is cheaper for the Sprint. That and the negative
comments about the Interceptor's VTEC engine have swayed me toward the
    Sprint.

I have one concern about this bike. I hear the excessive heat coming
from the engine compartment and the exhaust are a problem. I live on
the Mississippi Gulf Coast, less than two miles from the Gulf of Mexico
so the summers are pretty warm.

I need to ride the bike to see if I can live with the heat but I'm
looking for personal experiences that might help me in my decision.
Also, is there anything I could do about the heat? Change pipes? Add
    insulation?

    Thanks,
    Paul

Does it have to be a sport bike...? What about the Honda Shadow Aero VT750....? Unless you have a "NEED FOR SPEED" thing going, I think the Shadow would be great bike for you, I have one and just love it.
