So, that was a cheap attempt at an MOT. It was the full service as well
since the work started with the fork seals and I thought in for a penny,
    in for a bound <manic laughter>...

    Labour (8 hours) 400.00
    Bearing Seals x2 15.00
    Pads x4 70.00
    Fork Oil 7.00
    Front Tyre 78.00
    Spark Plugs 10.00
    Tappit Shim 4.00
    Wellnut 5.00
    Oil Filter 7.00
    Engine Oil 28.00
    AAlternator Shaft bits 76.00
    Clutch cover Gasket 4.00
    Van Collection 20.00
    MOT 29.00
    ------
    About 900.00 (inc vat)
    ======

So the fucking thing better work for a while now. Still like it though,
very different from the 'Bird, but nicely so :)

  2. I liked mine. 2000 model, humungous engine, comfy, handled amazingly
well for something that big (far better than the BMW), but the fuel
    consumption was just silly.

Yeah, absolutely. You had the 4cyl version iirc. The triple not so bad
on fuel, over 50mpg on a steady motorway run.

I rebuilt one from a number of boxes of bits when I was working for the
Triumph dealer up the road. Huge amounts of plastic covering what is
    basically a Speed Triple frame.

  6. Yes, that's about it. Damn good frame, though.

  7. Ah, right, didn't realise you had the 900. The 1200 four averaged low-
    to mid-30s.

Best ever was 43mpg, 80mph cruise on an autostrada in Italy, with a
    hurricane tailwind.

Ouch, at £70 for a set of pads, i'd be tempted to renew them before
putting it in for a service.

The oil's expensive too, but i've paid similar just to get the service
    stamp in the book.

Your Earth pounds. 400 hundred was labour, the the tyre was another
ton, then, well, stuff. Runs ok now though, although I must check the
rear pressure as it tips into corners a bit, or maybe it always did and
    the 'Bird doesn't iyswim.

From the invoice in front of me

T2020245 PAD SET *4 PADS IN SET* S unit 69.58

That good or bad, not having bought pads in pounds for a long time?

EBC pads for my Tigers are around 15 quid a pair, so I think it's fair
to say 70 quid for two pairs is a complete rip-off.

Triumph prices. A set for an early 90s Gixer or even an RF900/Bandit
1200 are identical and cost half that.

I didn't even pay that for racing pads.
