True Friends and Disagreements

Discussion in 'Texas Bikers' started by Bill Walker, Sep 20, 2004.

A few months back.. just a few..a group of 20 or so brothers and true
friends sat around a picnic table, in the middle of a campground.. We had
all just finished a gruieling day, attending a very exhausting round of
committee meetings, caucases and general lobbying for some important
    issues..

All of us were used up.. The hour was late and tempers were exceedingly
short, if not explosive.. A discussion broke out between two of those
brothers and friends.. The rest became rooted and silent as the discussion
between these intelligent and articulate men..Each one expressed his
position with his passion of conviction.. Each one expressed his opposition
to the other's position with the same passions..

No names are necessary and the issues are not important.. Both men, as well
as the ones who were riveted to their seats, will recall this incident
    taking place in Houston..

Late as it was, and tired as we all were.. No one would dare to leave before
the conclusion of this debate between our two respected brothers.. We all
sat there and were fascinated with the skill and respect that each man
reflected to the other.. The discussion continued well into the wee hours of
    the morning..

Finally.. well into the early morning hours, a compromise was ironed out..
Each one of us had our own views representing the positions of each of these
men.. We all consider each of them, our brother and friend.. No one
interrupted them and each of us listened carefully thoughout the long hours
of their debate and exchange.. Silently and repectfully.. I remember that
sometime during all this.. another good brother leaned toward me and
whispered .."We should all go to bed, there is a long day ahead ..
tomorrow".. I shook it off and responded in muted whispers .. "I won't leave
    until this one is finished"..

Every man sat through the entire length of this debate.. At the conclusion
and compromise, we all said goodnight to each other and went to our bedrolls
to rest for the day ahead..

Our day commenced early, as usual and we returned to the floor of those
meetings and caucases with resolve and determination.. As a unit, we worked
together as hard as the previous day.. By the end of the day.. all the
Resolutions that we came to advocate, had been passed into the platform of
one of our States prominent political parties..

Those two men showed all of us, by example, just what can be accomplished by
mutual understanding of the end result .. Those two men, came to that
picnic table as friends, disagreed throughout the night, compromised and
    retired to rest, as friends..

We engaged that massive convention for a mutual purpose.. We came from all
across Texas.. Many of us had never met, many of us had known each other and
been friends for years.. All of us were brothers that came to Houston with a
common goal.. That goal was realized .. We made a difference.. We got those
Resolutions accepted and the actions of the two men who debated through the
night represents the spirit that made it possible..

Many who read this post, understand what I am writing about, many will never
grasp the significance of these words.. The work of TMRA II goes on and
on... Not because of massive support or public approval, but because TMRA II
is made up of brothers and sisters who are dedicated, to being amongst the
    "difference makers"..

These are the men and women who make up the majority that you see on the
highways.. These are the ones who are putting it on the line, through their
sacrifice.. Belong to as many of the social riding clubs as you can afford
memberships in.. Ride you motorcycle with all the pride that you have in
that magnificent machine.. Dress with detail and attention to the latest
fashion trends in motorcycle wear.. Meantime.. don't ever forget those
dedicated men and women of TMRA II, whose contributions and sacrifices, have
made your motorcycling lives a whole lot better..for years..

I'm amazed day after day, post after post how people can show their
ignorance. They have no clue, how much everyone winces when they see their
name come up in the "from" line. Too bad. Many of those have the talent to
contribute much to the newsgroup, but are too busy throwing BS at each
other. Really makes this NG low priority in your day of things to read. I
guess obviously some have more time than others.

Just a long time lurker opinion, nothing more. Let the BS be thrown...

<chuckle> I'm happy to see that you have taken the opportunity to submit
your own contribution.. The commentary in my post is entirely my own and
only suggests that some will understand what the post is about while others
will not grasp the significance for anything other than controversial
    opposition..

I'll assume that you have grasped the intent of the post and your comments
are well received.. Thanks for responding..

Someone still pissin' in your yard there, louie?

It strikes me as funny when I see someone say "that's my job". Then
they are the first to cry out when things don't go as planned and they
find themselves over their head to handling their own problems. I
recall having many discussions with people about whether politicians
and unions played a role in their lives during the 2000 election. Most
of those same people are struggling now and begging for help to save
    themselves.

I wonder if those people in Arlington working for GM thought "that's
my job" when Ann Richards worked a deal with GM to keep that plant
open and keep those couple thousand jobs working....instead of letting
them lose their jobs and go work at a Taco Bell. It wasn't like it was
"politically" motivated since just right after GM worked the deal,
those same slugs that had their jobs saved were out hold "Bush for
Governor" signs and forgot what was done for them.

I didn't forget! As a matter of fact, when I drive by that plant on
360, I stop just to pay my respects...by throwing a few rocks their
way and letting them know just what sleezy shit they are.

My favorite paragraph.....it fits a lotta situations and reminds me of
my friends and my family's beliefs......how anyone could make this into
a negative, is beYond Me.......The only part I'm not familiar with, is
all the discussions of TMRA stuff...but that's just me......bjay

Me being responsible for me. Not a bad concept, you should try it. Quit
depending on the Govt and the man to hand you something.

I've heard that quite often...many times it comes from people who are
on some sort of "social services" either through health care or
payment plan for their income. Funny, but I've always had my own
health care and never needed "social services" to get through life. I
doubt you can say the same.

Go clean that yard up, it's looking pretty disgusting with all that
pissin' and shittin' that's going on in it.
