I'm selling the house, and got a letter from the solicitor that asked
about any covenants that that I knew were being breached. I suddenly
recalled that the previous owners had fitted a second external TV
aerial - There used to be an aerial socket in the bedroom - which
technically breaches the covenants for this estate.

Well, I thought, rather than have it cause any problems for the sale,
five minutes with a hacksaw and end of problem.

Only now the TV in the lounge doesn't work.

About a month ago I went round to help my son who claimed they couldn't
get very good pictures on the TVs in a flat he shares with a mate.

When I got there I found they were plugged into opposite ends of an
aerial extension from one room to another. The actual aerial socket was
    unused.

*Giggle* It must be time to supplement the recent "Order of Mechanical
Fuckwittedness" with a one for electrical numptiness - fx. "Order of the
    Dys-eletrics"..?! :)

You mean you went for the newer, shinier one? Easy mistake to make.

I don't think the numbers were the point. I've forgotten which number I
was allocated (I don't do numbers) but the mechanical fuckwit stories
was the best thread here in an age.

It _has_ been a bit dull in here of late. I've been occasionally
skim-reading for the last couple of weeks[1] and have rarely felt
inclined to join in, such is the banal nature of most of what's been
    going on.

    [1] Business trips and stuff.

My first question for any Ebay mechanical equipment purchases is now "Do
    you have an OMF number?".
If they don't ask what one of those is I run away. This is my cunning
idea to catch people who do have one but say no so they can offload the
    item.

As I've started posting more I've noticed it getting more dull.
Never occurred to me whilst I was lurking though.[1]

[2] Apart from once, on a park bench.

Isn't this the annual cycle of people are doing less riding of bikes,
less going out doing interesting things and more staying inside sat on
the internet because it's cold, hence less "I did this, aren't I a
muppet" which leads to less "that's nothing..."?

I know it's recently gone up, but the lengths some people go to to
avoid the licence fee is a bit too much.

I rode my bike this morning, as I do most mornings. It was relatively
warm, I thought. I took the longer, but faster, route to work. Doing
140mph on your commute is always a good start to the day.

I've been commuting in the fog all of this week. I've found that
despite having crap headlights I can still manage about 75% of the
'normal' speed on roads I know well with visibility of 10-20m.

Of course, if I come across a fridge or a pile of mud[1] I'd be fucked
but I think it was well worth the risk to see what my nerve was like.

[1] Quite likely on the roads I use, at least the mud.
