  2. Oh yes. Are there the usual 'motor sport is dangerous' disclaimers for
the IOM ? I doubt it.

Well, unlike a short circuit meeting, you do not buy a ticket with a
disclaimer on the back for the TT. However, all the common viewing
areas do have signs up saying where you can and can't go, and
containing a warning of sorts. Of course, you can stick your head
thru any hedge you can find, anywhere on 37 miles of course, so it's
    not exactly comprehensive.

Anyway, I've been led to believe that such disclaimers are not worth a
    great deal in court.

In my completely un-informed opinion, the main issue will become
whether the event can continue to be insured.

Inflation in Public Liability insurance rates is one of the major
things that does for events. They may find that to get a decent rate
in future they may have to put such restrictions in place that it
makes the whole thing unworkable. Fingers crossed that it doesn't
    come to pass.

Latest I have on Jan (posted to Ixion by fizzy):

"Allowed in to see our heroine who is as well as can be expected,
sporting a bit of a shiner and a cut over her right eye and the
mandatory arm in plaster. Other than that she appears to be
remarkably unscathed. Very tired though so I got kicked out after a
short visit. In spite of that she seemed to be in good spirits."

Saw her today, briefly - she's sitting up in bed, with a shiner that
wouldn't look out of place in The Beano, and her right arm (radius &
ulna) is plastered up. She's obviously a bit battered, but is going
    to be fine.

If anyone who knows her would like to send a card, drop me an email
    for the address.

an update just before we left this morning was that she'd had both leg
pinned and they'd managed to get some blood supply back to the limb
(severed artery). She was still counted as critical but making slight
    improvements.

Oh do **** off Bonwick, what on earth did you call me that for? You
really are a fuckiing twat at times.

It's gonna have serious ramifications, so why the attitude?

I don't mind you calling me if I have done something wrong, but that is
    just fucking out of order.

    Explain?

I was talking in general, not just aboiut the TT & there was no fucking
reason i can see for Mr Bonwick to call me a wanker for what I said. If
he wants to pick me up on something, fine, but thats not on & he knows
    it.

Are you telling me there are no warnings around the track? Of course
    there are.

  15. See , you might just have had a defensible argument against not just
Skeletor but all his evil and not terribly bright henchmen but the bit
about talking in general really does indicate a certain amount of target
fixation on your own foot which actually makes it hard to disagree with
him. Mind you were it me I would not have called you a wanker but taken
the opportunity to try out a new word such as niq to see if it fitted in
to our illustrious language in a way it was never intended,

Which I fully understand. I was merely pointing out, as we all know,
shit can happen & people can die.

Folk know the risks & if they don't , they need to be informed enough
to make a sensible decision as to attend or not.

I find it pathetic that he obvoiusly dislikes me, yet hasn't killfiled
    me?

  18. Yes it does and we are aware of it, even to the extent that there are
unwritten rules about how such things should be dealt with as and when
    they arise.

I can't be arsed to go and look at any site which promotes motorsport of
any kind and look to see whether the usual disclaimer is there or not
but I am not sure I would find one that didn't have it and my assumption
that it always is there means that they can find out lots of stuff if
they want and are, as you rightly point out, free to make their
decisions based upon that and other information. Have you anything new
    to add to the debate?

Is it obvious? I thought he was just treating you as any other dick
head would be treated. My mistake.

Perhaps he is one of those to whom I would refer as a Grown Up?

Because you obviously don't understand that on the TT course they
don't have tickets to print a warning on. That means that yet again
you're posting from a position of extreme ignorance.
    See above.
    See above.

Failing that then go to the IoM for the GP in a couple of months and
try to get an idea of what the whole thing is about. This should
include riding, spectating, marshalling and trying to police the whole
thing. It's not short circuit racing.
