TT: Senior race stopped

    They had little option to make it a sensible length.
    Ahh well. For the SFX try the worm :)
    I didn't. I thought Paul's character was awful.

    I think he was meant to be. Not sure if it was really true to the book,
    though.

    I read the 'making of'. Apparently they had a room filled with
    micro-beads of glass to simulate sand and glaring lights so powerful
    that it was brighter inside than out. They did have one problem,
    though: they had to be very careful with the camera angles: the
    rearing mechanized worms could apparently look rather phallic.

    I, err, actually can't recall.
    Well, the character was supposed to be into excess and was meant to be
    pretty vile, but in a subtler way. The 'flying suit' of the film, for
    example, was just suspensors to help support his bulk in the book.

    Well they certainly failed to prevent it in parts ;)
    Whiney little brat. Still, some people interpreted that from the book.
    Oh yes. I've read the book many times. What I meant was that nothing in
    the film was explicitly 'forbidden' by the book IYSWIM.
