So, I was lounging about at the weekend, trying to find a reason not
to go to the office. Too hot to do anything outside.

Realised that my copy of TT Superbikes for the PS2 was still in its
cellophane. Thought I'd whip it open and give it a whirl.

I used the cheatcode posted here, to unlock all the bikes and all the
races. So I jumped straight in for a Senior TT on a GSXR1000.

Blimey, them gixxers wheelie a bit, don't they.

I tried to ride the course without referring to the directional guide,
but I found that my memory of how sharp a given corner is... could not
    be trusted.

It has to be said at this point, that I'm a computer games spastic.
I'm really no good at them, and consequently I don't bother much.

Anyway: my laptime was 27 something which is 83mph, I think. But I
had fallen off about 20 times. I reckon if I can avoid crashing, I'll
    be the Champ.

I abase myself before you. I only managed 28 minutes on a Pantah in 198x,
although as I get older that lap will get quicker.
A late mate did 26 minutes on a Le Mans II with a pillion, or it might
have been 24 mins. I'll have to ask the pillion before she forgets.

As is common when I play vehicle-driving computer games, I am simply
unable to use the brakes. I suspect this is a barrier to
    significantly faster lap times.

The track is very realistic. I did a lap, then watch the DJ on-board
lap from the 2002 TT DVD.

You should try the game sometime.
    heh. That was for you.
Any tips gratefully appreciated. They won't even cost you a quid.

Really sorry I couldn't make it.

I'm living in interesting times, from a personal pov.

Trouble is, you've got to be on the right line, or you'll end up in
    the hedge.
TBH, I don't know how much I can do. I want instant gratification,
rather than putting in any graft.
When I tried, I ended up at a complete standstill 200 yards before the
corner. Then I'd end up with comical wheelie-around-the-corner
    shenanigans.

It is only a computer game, after all.
It's possible that you're worse than me on computer games. We should
have a competition, for amusement (of others).

Try "Need for Speed Underground 2" instead then.

Sir wants to try using analogue controls, methinks. If you're using the
buttons they invariably behave as on/off switches.

Oh aye, that's a hoot. So is "TOCA Race Driver 2" from Codemasters as it
has some excellent tracks including bloody-near perfect renditions of
Donington, Laguna Seca, Bathurst, Vallelunga, Adelaide, etc.

On a related note, anyone manage to get good ol' GP500 working under XP?
That is still, in my book, the best 'bike racing game ever.

Sounds great. I suppose I'll have to either buy a PS2 or wait for
version 2, which is apparently planned to be multi-platform.

Not me guv - and not for lack of trying. I think it's something to do with
it needing an older version of some plugin or other, than is the default on
    XP. Or something.
