Well I think I am ready. The bike should be in good shape. As usual I have packed all the wrong tools in case I need a roadside repair. Rain gear and several layers of clothing are laid out. I suspect during the first couple of days on the road I will be putting them to good use. We have a special weather statement in effect for tonight and tomorrow. :-( Got the GPS programmed with a couple of routes and a few waypoints. With my sense of direction I need all the technical help available. And just to be sure I belong in the new Millennium, for the first time in my life I am heading out on the road with a computer. What the hell have we come to? Interesting the feeling the night before a big ride. The anticipation. It's almost like Christmas Eve when I was a child. So much to look forward to the next day. I have checked the bike several times already this evening. I think it is cleaner now than at any other time since I have owned it. Of course if it is raining that new look will last all of a half hour or so, slightly longer if it is dry. But who cares, we all know bikes run smoother and corner better when they are clean. So for the rest of the evening I will listen to the play by play of the football game (yes Gracie, it is football season up here), continue to jerk the gear until I have way too much shit to load on the bike and then try to get some sleep. 5:00 comes early but I know I will be up half the night. You just gotta love the night before a big ride. See ya in Moab! -- 24 hours in a day & 24 beer in a case Coincidence? I think not

Thanks Ari. Unfortunately Elzi couldn't make this trip. I think she is having too much fun riding around Texas. We will miss her. -- 24 hours in a day & 24 beer in a case Coincidence? I think not
As u most likely know, Calgary, we were just up in that area and it was a great experience. I think just right on the time of year. That Scenic Byway 12 is a real nice ride but may be to far to fit in. We went over to Ridgway from Moab, and Ridgway southwards has scenery to rival some of the pics you've posted of your area rides. Over to Ridgway, down to Silverton and back wouldn't be too much of a day ride. If any of you are camping check out the Colorado River on the edge of town. We didn't camp but it was inviting, and has road access for several miles. Wish I were closer.....I'm ready for a return trip. enjoy ....louie
Thanks Louie. Highway 12 is definitely on the agenda. I am planning on taking the long scenic route along 12 on the way home. It's out of the way but I have heard 12 is one of the best riding roads on the continent. I might try that Silverton route. We are planning on riding the Million Dollar Highway. Maybe we can make a loop of it including Silverton. Great roads, hot weather, good friends and tremendous scenery. It's the perfect recipe for a terrific little meet & greet. -- 24 hours in a day & 24 beer in a case Coincidence? I think not
