This is very interesting, and I'm curious what others think ?

BMW are blaming low octane fuel, are BMW really so shit ?

For those interested and who want to propose theories.

The original ADV responses seem typical.

    1) Blame bad fuel.
    2) Ignore the rest of the info offered.

It took a while before someone spotted the "oil in filter" comment.

Sounds like an excuse for them lunching their turbos on a regular basis.

  7. Looks awfully like the damage done to Rope's engine after the diesel
    contamination episode.
Fwiw, I've just filled a ex-petrol tank with diesel and sniffing it,
you'd swear blind it was still petrol in that.

The response of "bad fuel" may be typical but it appears to be the exact
cause of the damage, without question. I CBA to read everything, but did
BMW come through in the end? From the half dozen random pages of ADVrider
that I read through it appeared that the Lima BMW dealer and the selling
dealer in Canada were doing the right thing.

But based on all the negative reports of BMW shirking warranty claims, I
am firmly in Lozzo's camp on the BMW question.

PS Quite interesting that 'Dieter' didn't know about the low octane fuel
mapping option that is in official BMW documentation, such as the owner's
manual for Canada and the USA.

The bikes are fixed, but it is unclear if it was warranty or "good will".
I prefer the "buy a bike with a jap engine " camp. :)
    Indeed
