Hi, By law (or MOT) does a bike have to have both mirrors? TIA
Number 1 son has to move his left mirror to get in the entry, but he's gone an knackered the thread... So no left mirror. Should make him better with his life savers though.
The bike before mine at the MOT garage last week had no mirrors. It was a smart 50cc thing brought along by the lucky boy's dad. It passed the MOT. My friend's 300 Kawasaki enduro has never had mirrors - it passes MOT. John
I cannot see anything about mirrors in the MOT guide I usually refer to: http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual/mc_contents.htm but can't say I read every line either. cheers SS
My 1979 Guzzi has no mirrors (it has mounting points), the MZ also has none but that's a 1971 bike. It's not an MOT item for bikes but C&U states "(b) Mirrors optional fitment but if fitted on motorcycles first used on or after 1 October 1978 - must be approved to EC Directive 71/127, 79/795, 80/780, 85/205, 86/562, 88/321,Chapter 4 of Directive 97/24 or to ECE Regulation 46.01;" So in short - if they are fitted they need to have glass etc but they're not required.
No, my 1979 Guzzi was registered after 1/9/78 (obv.) and has mirror mounts but no mirrors. No problem.
