I'll probably be paying a visit to the Pontypridd branch on my day off.
The front is down to it's wear markers, and the rear is tramlining badly
on rutted / overbanded sections of road.

I think I'll try the Conti Road Attacks - can't go wrong for the price,
I'd have thought. If they are crap, they'll be pretty much worn out by
the end of the summer anyway.

"the rear is tramlining badly on rutted / overbanded sections of road."

    Can't see it myself.

  6. I bought my Metzler Sported M1's from :
    1st Gear
Unit 7, Coity Crescent, Bridgend Industrial Estate, Bridgend, Mid Glamorgan CF31 3RS
    Tel: 01656 661557

175 quid fitted to loose wheels.

Try the Roadtec Z6's. I have them on the ST. They are great.

Couldn't think of any other way to describe it - it's getting 'caught
up' in the ruts / overbanding etc.

I know bikes will do this to a certain extent, but it's doing it more on
worn tyres than it does on new tyres, IYSWIM.

It's all relative, though. I mean, how shit can a major tyre
manufacturer make a tyre? - it's not as if we're comparing 020s with
    Cheng Shins, is it?

I've since looked at a couple of reviews and they're reckoned to be as
good, if not better, than the 020s, so I'll give 'em a go.

Pretty much standard behaviour. Mine are due for replacement atm and
the front has a distinctly triangular profile, while the rear is much
flater/squarer than when new. This combinations makes for, err,
'interesting' results in the conditions you describe. And here in
Basel we have real tramlines to look out for too.

  10. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Doesnotcompute amazed us all with this pearl of
    wisdom:
Thank god for that. I thought it was a euphemism for arse reaming.

Sure, I'm not disputing the behaviour at all. Was replying to DNC's
hope that you were talking about car tyres.

I paid something £190 for the Avons to be fitted to the ZRX and about
the same for a set of Pirelli Diablos on the VFR. Ride in, ride out at
Protyre in Bristol. £185 for fitting to loose wheels isn't
    particularly good value, IMHO.
