I'm off on a 600 mile round trip this weekend and I've just noticed the
Guzzi is down to 1.5mm on the rear Bridgestone.

Given I get 4000 miles to a tyre (on average) how many miles will I get
out of the 1.5mm left? How much from the 0.5?

Likelihood of getting a 120/90-18 Bridgestone tomorrow for 5pm?

  2. Thousand miles left in that if you take it easy.

Several thousand left in it if you don't.

Probably easier than getting a Dunlop D208, my local dealer never has
the Dunlop in stock yet it's the OEM for the Honda.

I'd definitely try to get it changed tomorrow though.

I thought I had a few hundreds of miles left on my rear tyre and was
about to order the replacement. Checked the tyre and there was strip
about 10cm long were the rubber had flaked off. It was definitely
compromised. Fortunately the local Yamaha dealer had one in stock and
changed it there and then. Shame the YZF-R1 "Lava Red" is just the wrong
    colour.

Is it down to 1.5mm all over, or just up the middle?

Pretty much all over but mainly up the middle.

IME the rate of wear increases rapidly once you get close to the wear
indicators. This was certainly the case on my old Gixxer.

Yup! Took the Gixxer out the other night and bugger me it's fucked. I
wondered why I had so much grip.

I've gone to the next level: "Quick! Steal a tyre off darsy's BMW".

I was thinking how glad I was I had; 98 and a fucked tyre could have been
    a bit more tricky.

"actually just stayed at home with a nice cup of tea" would have been
    easier, all things considered, mind.

but, but I had a nice time meeting up with my mate Mick.

It was a blinding ride up there and not too shonky coming back. Getting
caught for speeding did put a bit of a downer on it for a while.

I've had a pretty good run and was a little overdue for a nicking.
