I had Qualifier 2s fitted to the R1 on the recommendation of the owner
of the tyre place who'd hooned his newer R1 on them around Germany.

I was very happy with the 2CTs I'd had previously though.

The normal qualifiers will last me and you, whether they'd last Krusty
is another matter. I suspect he might want to go for the RRs anyway
    (like himself).

I'm tempted to go for 2CTs anyway on the grounds that if the front does
rub, I can stick the old Power back on. I'm pretty sure that's got
    enough life left in it.

Qualifier 2s are another option in theory, but lots of people slating
the original Qualifier in forums. It seems the rears slide really
easily under power in hot conditions.

    Good point.

Also means I can use having shit[1] normal dunlops as an excuse for my
    slowness.

[1] See, now they can be used as an excuse they're shit, and.. what
was it... oh yeah, dangerous. Tyres of death.

But you haven't got shit normal dunlops, you've got shit-to-a-blanket
Road 2s. Which everyone knows are the stickiest tyres known to mankind.
    You puff.

Road 2's? No, I've got original OE fit Dunlop Qualifiers.

    Tyres of death.

    D'oh, I could've sworn I was replying to ogden.
The OE ones do seem to be, errm, 'unloved'.

There's a difference with most OE tyres - they're generally crappier.
Which is one of the things that leads to some tyres getting such mixed
    reviews.

I'll be fitting the RR version of the Qualifiers because they're
great. They might struggle to last the distance but they sell tyres
over the water so I'll just buy a new back tyre if mine wears out.

I was surprised to kill off the Dunlop on the rear of the 13[1] in <4k
miles. Haven't the faintest what to put on it.

Conti Road Atacks have the swoopiest pattern, though.

Michelin Pilot GTs don't seem to last too long on GoldWings, mind -
the front's over halfway gone, and it can't have done much more than
    10,000 miles.

Thank goodness for the trusty old BT45s on the CBX.

[1] Which needs to go back to have the rear wheel (and sprocket)
    bearings replaced under warranty.

    @mid.individual.net:

I have these on the R-GS. They went to Lille & Austria last year and I'm
hoping to get another Alpine run out of them this year. Hardly used the
bike in the interim due to a buggered knee, so expecting 7k or so from the
rear, which is more than the previous Metzelers & Avons. Hog seemed to
think they were pretty when he checked them over at Neuville.

Grip well, even at -4C when 2500m up in the Kaunertal and in a monsoon
    across the Fernpass.

Well, the front is still the one from the factory, the rear is fresh,
but looks identical to the one that was on before. It'll certainly do
    what I need.

It might look identical, but it probably isn't.

"Qualifiers available at your local shop as an aftermarket item will be
different from the OEM versions of the tire that will ship with 2006
bikes. While he wasn't implying that the tires were inferior, they are,
however, made to slightly different specifications at the request of the
bike manufacturers, who most likely (and understandably) have slightly
different goals for the Qualifier than Dunlop. These OEM Qualifiers can
be differentiated by letter designations on the tire (those being
    roughly H, K, S, and Y"

If everyone had that attitude, the world would be a happier and less
    stressful place.

Even better, personally I'd replace "RR version of the Qualifiers" with
    "some tyres".

I'll be putting something different on when the front wears out, or
more likely swapping the thing for a GSX-R 750.

I hated the Qualifiers on my 10R, it was a much nicer bike with BT015s
    fitted.

The BT015s as OE fit on my GSXR are lovely even with a fucked rear.

This is where I get punished for being different again. I'd have to lug
the 55mm socket for the rear wheel nut around as nowhere other than an
MV dealership will have one, & it weighs a bloody tonne. Plus the quick
release system for the front wheel means you can't balance it without
having a couple of bfo box spanners to remove the axle.

    Anyways I've decided to risk a 120/70 front & ordered 2CTs. I'm hoping
the relatively shallow tread means it won't rub too much under heavy
braking, & if it does, I'll either crank up the preload, or stick the
    old Power back on.
