Yeah I've seen that, and the black one looks lovely. might be a bit
more hassle though as I've still got some 0% finance running on the
current 10r. Not that I can't just clear it, mind.

One to talk to the dealer about after I get back from the alps.

The local bike shop who wins my business is the one who can fit new
tyres to my bike when I get to their premises. None of this ordering
ahead crap and none of this our workshop is closed on a Saturday so we
    can't fit tyres either.

I've not found prices for different brands to vary enough locally to
notice. I've tried Dunlop D208 (I did order ahead for those), Pirelli
Corsa III and Bridgestone BT016 on the CBR600RR. I've only tried
Michelin Pilot and Pirelli Angel ST on the ST4s. All worked perfectly well.

I think that most of the vendors offerings are technically superb and
it's unlikely I'll ever reach their limits. Surprisingly the BBC claims
that Edinburgh gets 38 more rainy days than London so wet weather
performance is a criteria I find important ;-)

It does seem expensive, especially when you can get an objet d'art that
might just double up as a bike for a measly £16799.

There are limits you know. I've happily mashed the shock preload rings
with a chisel, but a 220Nm wheel nut is an entirely different kettle of
    halloumi.

It used to be so simple when we went touring with a credit card and a
    toothbrush.
    Bad tyre choice kills.

Indeed. For the places we are going I'm pretty confident that a single
post on a forum will have me sorted for tyres without too much grief,
should the need arise. Might cost but WGAF?
Indeed again. My favoured independent service bod does tyres. I rang him
earlier this week to book a service for when we get back. I mentioned that
front brake pads & tyres will be shagged. He said, no problem. I keep
plenty in stock. I'm not concerned about the price as a) he is a very
valuable resource that I want to remain in business and b) he is a gent
    that won't take the piss

Well, there's a pleasant surprise. Even had to reread that paragraph
just to check there weren't any hidden gotchas.
