On channel 4 tomorrow night. Top film, based on the book, sort of docu/drama
    affair.

It's not the suspense that'll kill you, it's the sudden drop.

Bollocks, sudden drops are rarely, if ever, fatal.

Sudden deceleration at the end of the drop, that's what you've got to watch
    out for.

I suspect it was over for John Harlin long before the end of the drop.

Try googling for "John Harlin", "Eiger" and "Fucking long drop".

Ah, right. I did google for John Harlin, but only got links to a chap
who's still alive, and the editor of an outdoors magazine.

Anyway, back to the conversation - why do you think Harlin would have
been dead before the end of his 5,000' drop?

In my extremely limited experience of such things, people who fall on
mountains tend to bounce their way down.

Ok, so we're arguing about when the 'end' of a drop is. What a
    glorious waste of effort!
