Starting in a few minutes BBC2 Das Boot
Leaving aside the OP, IMHO it's actually worth watching. I would also recommend getting the large hardback version of the book by Lothar Gunther Buchheim. It's not the usual nonsense you see published for 'nazi fan boys' who like to dress up in German uniforms. It's actually a strong, honest historical account from a perspective we don't normally see in film and print. Some of the pictures are incredible.
Band form'n'all.... I also notice that it is incredibly cheap to buy the Directors cut version of the DVD from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Das-Boot-Di...ef=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1241337893&sr=1-2 and whilst I was there noted that this other highly recommended war series was also ludicrously cheap: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Band-Brothe...ef=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1241337606&sr=1-9
[snip the usual ursine **** comments] Should be on iplayer, be warned that it is 3 hours 20 min long. If you get a DVD make sure you get the one with english subtitles. Bloody good film.
Nope, films rarely are. Not sure if they stream it "live" -- I don't dare risk a licence inspector knocking on my door the exact moment I take a ten-second peek. -- Ivan Reid, School of Engineering & Design, _____________ CMS Collaboration, Brunel University. Must get that. I last watched Das Boot several years ago and really want the series edition - 293 minutes. I have the Director's Cut of 200ish minutes - or maybe it's the BBC cut.
