    "9"

if I've seen a worse film in the last few years, I don't recall it.

And yes, I know it's supposed to be a family/kid's movie, but
    everything about it is wrong.

  2. It's a spiritualist, deathist propaganda, pure and simple.
Its creators will be first against the wall when the Robot Revolution
    comes.

    The animation is nice, though.

you ****! I'd managed to suppress the memory the existance of that
    pile of crap.
"I, for one, welcome our new Robot Overlords".
well, yes, but cheating, compared to, say, "The Nightmare before
    Christmas".

  4. I've seen plenty worse, although not having the heavy metal score that
was used in the trailers was a bit misleading.
I'm not sure it is y'know.
I saw it on a digital preojection system and the quality was pretty
damn good, but then it is animation.

Some of the character personification was quite good, but it very
definitely felt exactly what it was - ie like a short story dragged out
    far too long.

<snigger> I've seen it recently, didn't pay a dime for it and I still
felt robbed. That's two hours of my life I'm not getting back.

    [...]
I went to see "9" with a bunch of friends and we all concluded that
the proper ending would be for the protagonists to realise that
they can upload their consciousness into the big robot with the red
eye and then go about rebuilding a robot civilisation.

Unfortunately, when you see a giant red eye with a pupil like a
circular saw it's pretty obvious it's intended to be Evil Incarnate.

    Sigh.

I thought it looked like a cross between HAL and an old-fashioned
    camera shutter.

Though, with a film that begins with the death of all humanity, you're
never going to get a proper happy ending.

It was like "Wall-E" for Nitrazepam addicts.

once a month or so, #1 stepson and me to go to the cinema won a Sunday
morning, followed by a swift pint before sunday lunch. it alternates
who chooses what to see - this was his choice.

Just watched it - well up to Pixar's usual standard and hugely
    enjoyable.

Can't imagine you tolerating more than two minutes of it though, I mean
    it's hardly high art.

I re-watched "Tokyo Gore Police" earlier. High art is not everything.

  13. We liked it too - reasonably 'brain out' entertainment, but good with it.
^^^^^^^^^^ more sort of Down that Up then?
