Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338013/ I can't usually stomach films with a romantic slant but I thouroughly enjoyed this cinematic masterpiece. The plot involves the lead character Joel Barish (played by Jim Carrey) paying to erase his memories of a bitter relationship. The majority of the film is spent in this erasure process, jumping backwards and forwards in time through Joel's memories. The film has a dream-like quality to it, where things don't make a lot of sense - a distorted reality, if you will. The jumping-around is akin to films such as Memento, although this film is far less dark. It's the first serious role I've ever seen Jim Carrey play and he thankfully fits the part very well. I normally have an aversion to his films, but being encouraged to see this one has cast him in a different light. Of course it is possible that I may have enjoyed this film simply because I expected it to be awful, but I recommend it none-the-less.
