UKRM snagged for web feeds.

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Work in progress, Mar 31, 2007.

  1. Talking about this last night. Various web pages include UKRM as part
of their bike forums section. [1] So how many lurkers read UKRM this
way? If you do, why? please try and post any replies at the bottom and
    not make a mess...

[1] usedcarmart, autoandcar, motorcyclekb, motorbikebanter and so on
and so on. All with adverts, making money out of our witterings. This
disturbs me somewhat. It used to be someone had to have a bit of know
how, enough to set up a usenet account, now anyone with a browser can
access it, doesn't seem right somehow.

I'm not really bothered how anyone 'finds' ukrm, it's not a private
place, but when people stumble on it then they need to lurk for a
while before posting so that they can get an idea of what goes on here
rather than crying if they get a bit of hammer once in a while.

I was a regular poster on other newsgroups for quite a while before I
subscribed to ukrm and then I lurked for a couple of months before
posting so I had a bit of an idea what I was letting myself in for.

This was in the days when it was even more 'robust' than it is now but
the fact that a lot of people organised meets on a regular basis meant
that if you had a bike and wanted to turn up it was easy.
