Going to Chimay. Could arrange an RV in the hotel in Cambrai on the
    evening of the 14th.

depends on what you mean by "soonish". I'll be there end July/start of
    August.

    How big's the mudguard?

Thanks for the offer but I think that's a bit far out of Paris. His
fuel costs to collect it would be pretty much what postage from here
    would cost.

    That would be soon enough.
    If I just wrap it in bubblewrap it'll be about 700mm x 240mm x 240mm.

Where abouts in Paris does it need to go? I'll be at La Defense via
Gare du Nord, but can be a bit flexible.
    plastic or metal?

    <fx: thinks> It's not pink, is it?

Should be feasible - now you just need to the Swindon (or where-ever
it is you are) -> Enfield leg of the ukrm-ur sorted.

My suggestion would be via Aylesbury, passed to someone else at the
pub who also works in The City. Paging dwb or Statto, perhaps?

I'm not sure yet, but I'm sure the guy will be happy to meet you
anywhere rather than you going out of your way.
    Plastic - about 1Kg.
Heh, no it's original mudguard off my old blue Tiger.
I could certainly run it over to dwb's place easy enough, or maybe via
Avebury. I'll worry about that leg when the time comes as it all
depends on whether Emmanuel wins the auction or not. He's a good egg
who I've known (of) for many years[1] so I kinda hope he does.

[1] Obviously if it was just a spurious Froggie they'd get told to pay
    the postage or **** off.

I wasn't so much concerned about the weight as to putting it through
the metal detector at Waterloo International.

Anyway, let me know when the auction's finished.

    Ah right. It's completely metal-free.
    Will do.

Would need to be the former as I'm not sure if or when I'll be at
    Avebury.

That will be an 'interesting' train journey taking bits of motorbike
    into work :)

If it's prior to August it shouldn't be a problem, though finding a
good time to drop it off may be (though you can always leave it under
the car or something if needs be).

No problem, assuming you're still Didcot way & haven't migrated to the
frozen north or somewhere equally horrid.
Not half as interesting as it would be if he wanted all the bits.
They're currently spread out around the house, & I can't believe the
bike still works without this lot on it - there's tonnes of the stuff.

A 'Plan B' - marvellous! I wasn't going to bother asking about the
underground railway to Nairobi, but maybe I should...

  14. I was just talking to my mum last night about taking the grandparents out to
Malindi for a week as they used to live there.

PS - Anyone know the best deals on flights to Kenya ?

Fancy leaving one of them behind & taking a fairing sub-frame instead?

  16. TTYTT I could quite happily leave both behind, but that would be unfair.

I don't think we'll be going til late oct/nov though.
