99490 posts stored in Google as of starting typing this useless
    statement...

Shall any one do a screen capture of Google saying 99999 posts as some
guys do with their bikes mileage?

I find it hard to believe it's not far higher than this. Last month's
stats showed 13666 posts in that month alone. In fact, I'd put the
real number of posts to ukrm since it was newgrouped at least
    magnitude higher than 99490.

Right, hang on...(yes, I really am that bored)

    <fx: time passes>

    Microsoft Netscan shows

    2005: 229941
    2004: 224510
    2003: 249562
    2002: 253062
    2001: 278849
    2000: 166748
    1999: 39040

[netscan doesn't go back further, and in fact I suspect it doesn't
    have all of '99s data]

so that's 1,441,712 not counting the first few years. Google's crap.

    that's more like it.

I wish I'd thought of news.individual.net rather than using bloody
    Netstat, mind.

do you really think that over 90% of the posts to ukrm are
    x-no-archived?

I mean, I'm not saying it's not true, but it seems on the high side.

    Oh, fuckit.
"One Hundred Thousand posts". I read it as "One Million posts".

Somewhere close to 50%, yes, I could believe at a stretch. But 90%? NFC.
    <slinks off>

(ReadFreeNews.net reckons your post was 1,850,197 btw)

    According to Google,

    70,600 resultados de author:champ
    158,000 resultados de author:bear

which means that supposing a 10 years dedication to UKRM, this lovely
couple has had an average production of 19,34 and 43,28 daily posts.
Accepting the 1.5 megaposts figure, they stand for 5% and 10% of the NG
    production. Brilliant, innit?

    (Google crap, may be...)

    yes, I know.

I'm just surprised Google Groups has only got around 6% of the total
    volume.

even more "brilliant" when you consider that Bear hasn't been around
    for anything like 10 years.

I know that too, having researched it in depth for my stats program. :)
