    fair enough :-}

in the first place I'm quite glad I wasn't there to be placed in that
    situation

    secondly
    not being there
and never having experienced a Rebel or any other OMC person on the warpath
I think I would have been tempted to make polite noises
and then made some kind of arrangement so that UC members
did not wear or covered the offending rockers
either for the duration of the national gathering
or at least while outside the grounds of EPIC

    thirdly
I'm not interested at all in wearing a patch
    with or without rockers
    on my back
IMNSHO that's akin to wearing a target ...

That too, but I'd have kept quiet about it.

Well, I can't remember how much I paid for three year renewal, but it
was just before the fees went up to $60 for three years.

For every three year membership period, the club pays upto $60 if you do
a first aid course. First aid certificates expire and need redoing every
three years. I'll also get another $60 when I next do an advanced riding
    course.

I don't understand it...<shrug> but it is so.

AFAIK, this is open to any U.C. member, but, how long it will last, if
too many people start actually using it, I dunno.

Maybe I should have kept quiet.

  4. At face value, that would have seemed to be the 'compromise' choice,
however I think that pacifying noises would've been seen as exactly that
by the Rebels. And don't forget that, after 6000 Ulyssians departed
Canberra, there still would've been a few hundred that had to continue
to live in that town. (and I'm not so sure that it will remain solely a
    Canberra problem).

While no one likes being TOLD what to do, I think that the decision
reached was the correct one under the circumstances. It was quick; it
was pointed; it left no room for doubt.
I'm ambivalent. I wear a patch because my girlfriend gave me a vest with
the logo on the back, as a present. Other than that, I wouldn't have
gone out of my way to get one.

I made a decision, while in Canberra (and asked Carol if she would do
the same) to simply not wear the vest, with the patch on the back,
    outside of EPIC.
    Maybe more so now.

probably about as welcome as anyone could feel, knowing they won't be accepted
as a member of the club until a large percentage of the members have died from
    old age... :)
