[1] Negotiations with Mrs P as to her alternate destination presently going
well - she is thinking somewhere north and warm, failing to fully grok the

and just as a warning to any budding backyard archers...

    "Coroner backs backyard arrow ban

A Melbourne Coroner has recommended people be banned from practising
archery in backyards. Fifty-eight-year-old Bob Smith died at Rye on
Christmas day 2000. He was struck by an arrow which was fired by his
16-year-old neighbour, who missed his target."

Hmm. Well, you should have a decent sized backstop.

I take it a backstop is the equivalent of the wall a dartboard's put on
    - stops the stuff that misses ?

Yep. In my case, I'm using the brick wall. And closing the bathroom
door, just in case I manage to hit through the window. ;-)

Well to be quite honest I can't imagine how you'd think you'd manage
without one .. especially at first!

I've had a few days at the archery club range, and 12m is pretty
    close.

Given Nev's ultimatum, I pretty much HAVE to attend now, or else his
sacrifice will have been for naught. :)

I'm not sure what time I'll be there though, as a few of us are heading
out to spend the day climbing up cliffs and then jumping off them again.

I might come along. Well, might have come along. I didn't, but it was
possible that I might have been going to.
