I've been using some Tecaloid synthetic enamel undercoat for the last 30 years for bits of bike - sidestands and the like. At the time I bought it for use on a DT175 frame. I've just stirred it up for go at painting my KLE sidestand. The tin started leaking from the bottom - I've decanted it off into jam jars so I can finish this and a couple of other jobs. I think I need to invest in another tin of undercoat (it'll probably see me out). Paint technology has no doubt come on a bit since 1980. The Tecaloid seemed to be suitable for any topcoat, wet and dried superbly and went on quite thick. So what's the undercoat of choice today? John
