Seems fine for someone who doesn't live amongst the language.
The one about "olvidar" etc. ? Got it and replied in detail - twice.

Catalans do speak Spanish, you know. Most Spanish language study material
I've seen originated in Barcelona. Franco pretty much banned the Catalan
language, and now it's a hot political subject. I won't voice my opinions,
because Domenec won't send me the bike cover ;-)

Seeing the bike and car number plates around there with "CAT" rather
than "ES" always makes me laugh.

What? I've had nothing from you this end. I wonder if you got caught in
the spam tracing. I'll need to look at the logs, if there are any
    available. Bollocks.

Does this make me an international culture nerd? I could be pretty
    comfortable with that, actually.

Exactly. But he might have the dignity to refrain from making films about
it. Or better, make them funny.
    Exactly.

If so, I think this rather makes my case.

Well, yes. Although not very well. I learned about manzanilla in Sanlucar
de Barrameda, and was rather disappointed to discover that in Barcelona
they thought it was camomile tea.

Given the timestamp, that would be after I disabled spam-assassin and
emailed you. I received a number of emails overnight, none from you
though. Very confused now. My hosting chaps are pretty good, I'll see if
they can see what's going on.

Do you still have my gmail address? Maybe better off sending it there.

That's because it is. It is also a type of wine. And of course the word
    means little apple.

In fact, the Royal Academy lists the wine as the 8th meaning of the word.

    Or have I been whooshed?

Well exactly, but like I said, every Catalan speaks fluent Castillian. Up
until recently they had to learn it at school. The best (nicest) Spanish
I've heard spoken was by Catalans. Therefore, it is not unusual for Spanish
    to be spoken in Catalonia.

No, I wasn't being entirely serious.
Yeah, OK. I know which I think is the most important type of Manzanilla,
    though.

I'm not a fluent Spanish speaker, and TBH I haven't even spent much time
in Cataluna, but when I have been there it has been pretty obvious to me
that most people, most of the time were speaking Catalan, not Spanish.

I shouldn't make a big deal of this, though - I'm not an expert. Perhaps
I was just in a bad mood, but I really didn't like the film. That was
    just one of many reasons.

Mind you, Scarlett Wossname is quite attractive.

Just watched it. The example I got had subtitles, which ruined it a bit
(distracting), but still good. Very clever in fact. Especially considering
some of the post-transition rubbish that was produced in Spain.

    The joys of Usenet.

Let us pause for a while to imagine Jim firing up his browser and
thinking "Wow 43 replies. I'll soon have this problem sorted."

Perhaps he feels fulfilled knowing a bit more about Spanish/Catalan and
    small apples.
