And could be - er - interesting.

They're different, depending on the area you're in.

Well I have to say a *big thank you* for this thread. There had been some
mention of grey Ovlov's on the group to which I paid little attention but
your experience pulled me up a bit.

Late last Thursday night I was joining the A1M from the South Leeds
junction. The motorway has a long right hander just past the entry, when the
road is dark and quiet I gun the 911 down the on-ramp, enter said bend
around 120 and accelerate gently through to an exit around 140. Only two or
three cars were visible but as I approached the bend the car sitting in the
middle lane moved sharply to the inside, I was already minded to see what
this car was but the unusual courtesy focussed my attention. The HID's
picked it out as a newish grey Ovlov estate devoid of markers but
remembering your experience I hit the anchors hard and parked behind him
    with 15 car lengths spare.

A trailing Beemer 3-Ser had been trying to match me since I had overhauled
him up the inside along the on-ramp. He initially braked with me then
decided to carry on in the middle lane. As he reached the Ovlov a red LED
rolling sign flashed "Watch Your Speed". Mr BMW made a COMPLETE **** of
himself panic braking and diving into the space between Plod and me. He
could just have remained in the middle lane and fallen slowly back. I
thought Plod was bound to have him over, possibly me too, but no, we cruised
sedately on at a steady 85.

More traffic joined from the next junction and a few made to pass but all
heeded my flashing brake lights bar one who also got the rolling LED's. Plod
had decided he didn't want any action but 85 was his chosen "safe speed".

It all progressed serenely until a German plated Golf came down the next
ramp at Eeek speed and stuffed Plod up the inside at 100andsomething. The
blues and twos went on immediately and both parties glided onto the hard
shoulder. I daresay Plod was cursing the extra paperwork of a foreign car.

All in all the extra observation saved me a 120+ ticket and a decent sized
ban pissing on my clean licence. The ongoing journey to Glasgow and back
(all at night) proceeded with caution.

That's a new one on me, but I have to say I approve.

    Glad to hear it.

What pissed me off most about mine, is that I'm normally really
careful on motorways not to take the piss because it's there and 30's
that I reckon you're most likely to be nicked.

    And I've proved myself right.

I had taken my eye off the unmarked car ploy on M-Ways, concentrating on
bridges, junctions and lay-bys along with rapidly approaching headlights.
