I have a UVEX Wing RS and an "ordinary" Wing.
They're both 4 or 5 years old (can't remember which is which).
Does anyone know if there's a direct replacement for either of these?
"Wing RS" seems to have been hijacked by the non-engined fraternity -
    http://outside.away.com/outside/gear/gear-blog/20050831.html
and the nearest motorcycle equivalents seem to be these monstrosities
    -
    http://www.motowebshop.com/en/shop/helmets/fullface_helmets/uvex_wing_rs_740.
Mine are the original black jobs with the double-glazed clear/legal
    tint vizors.

    Any ideas?

Uvex seem to have pretty much abandoned the UK market, as I discovered
when trying to get visors for my Species (got them from NZ in the end).
I'd change brands if I were you.

I'm never having another Arai - the difference in noise-level alone
would be enough, let alone the feckin price.
Most importantly, I've just become very comfortable with the Uvex.
I suspect I'll "soldier on" with the "old" ones.
Not convinced they actually wear out anyway...

Strangely (or maybe not) my current one (about 12 months IIRC) is
holding up much better than my last one.

That exhaust is (forgive me for this) unsubtle.

It's your ideal bike, in so many ways.

Probably - but what I'd really like is the equivalent of what we had
when I was kidding myself I wasn't too old to skydive.
Those guys new how many hours exposure to what intensity of UV would
do how much damage to which parts of their kit.
I've yet to see any figures from the helmet manufacturers or anyone
else that tells me that for lids.
So I reckon my 5-year-old lid might be less "worn" than somone else's
1-year-old one and more "worn" than a third punter's 10-year-old one.
Love to be proved wrong, then I could make a hard-and-fast rule about
    lid replacement!
Any other bit of kit it's easy - you can see and/or feel when it's
    shagged.
But I must have thrown away half a dozen lids in the last 16 years and
I've got no real evidence I couldn't safely still be wearing the first
    one...

Cheek pads wore out[1] and the chin vent cover broke off. I do do
'rather a lot' of miles, though.

[1] My beard wore the covering material right through.

I've had the chin vent cover problem - didn't bother me, tbh.
Oddly enough I've grown a beard this year for the first time in ages -
    we'll see!

Yep. Makes sense. But by the same token, if I like the Uvex I might as
well keep it till there's something I lust after (in the lid
    department).
Might as well become pate in the gear you like, eh?
Anyway - what are these PP2000s of which you speak, Earthman?

Good call. I was eyeing the larger hammers in Lozzo's toolbox[1] as it
    was.

[1] This is in no way a euphemism.
