Well, that won't stop it from buckling or, I suspect stop it skidding.
    But ICBW.

And I have a rather spiffy end grain job, so I won't bother it it's all
    the same?

    LOL, you got me there!
easily cleaned as in convenience and not being namby pamby about germs,
that sort of keeping clean. Savvy?

I was just responding to the prevailing trend in this thread. Like I said, a
wooden chopping board, possibly oak, which has lasted 40 years despite being
long grain and not end grain.

    Rusted and ropy.
    Dog-eared old copy.
    Vintage and classic,
    or just plain Jurassic:
    all words to describe me.

Nope. Not really seeing a huge difference, TBH. While clean != sterile
what else is going to be convenient.

Jesus, sprinkle a bit of water on the kitchen roll first. What is this,
    kitchen skills for beginners?

    Chickpeas
    Lemon juice
    Garlic
    Tahini

None of which require a knife. And there you have it, Israeli cuisine in
    a nutshell.

V complained in our local when her ice cream tasted of onions and/or
garlic. The landlord sent one of the barmen across the road too the
Londis to buy a tub of B&J to shut her up.

    Neither of us died.

I was restricting the ingredient list to food, not inedible garnishes.

Well, it shut her up, and that's 95% of the problem solved, so yeah.

Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day. The tomato is a
fruit. But then so's a peanut, but that's just the exception that proves
    the rule.

Shame. Good knives actually make kitchen work fun. Far more important
    than a good chopping block.

Yes, I can see how that Kasumi blade will really make the job of cleaning
    my fridge so enjoyable.

I dunno. Maybe it's that I don't try to cut the board, just the food.
