No. Kitchen skills for beginners goes like this: Buy a half decent
chopping board, you pikey ****, so you're not pissing around 'sprinkling
a bit of water on a bit of kitchen roll to stick under your Ikea POS
every time you want to use it' HTH.

Me neither - as long as it's not at stupidly busy times like Sat/Sun
    afternoons.

Plus, the Southampton & Bristol branches are both a lot better than
Neasden. I've never been to the Croydon one and don't intend to.

The Southampton one is not bad. Just don't try the meatballs. Seriously.

They do however have a decent deal where you can buy coffee & a muffin for 70p.

I only know about the food so far, the kitchen hasn't arrived yet.

    Ah, kitchens...

I'm not a fan of the Ikea range - we're getting quotes from John Lewis
    and a local independent place.

Handy hint - if you get a B&Q trade account, you get an insane discount
on their kitchens - something like 60% last time I looked.

We've looked at B&Q[1] and they all seem pretty crap, to be honest.

    [1] And Homebase, and Wickes...

I've done a couple & found them good for what they are (i.e. they fit
together properly), but yeah, if you don't want chipboard carcasses you
    need to look elsewhere.

I'd rather go for the cheap carcasses & spend the extra on the
    doors/handles/taps etc.

If I was doing it as a cheap(ish) replacement with a view to rent or
sell in the netx few years, I'd use that level of quality.

However, we've just moved in, don't plan to move for a good few years
and want a good quality kitchen. Whether we can afford a good quality
    kitchen, however...

The Nottingham one is fine on a weekday evening on my way home from
work, but at the weekend it's a pit of dispair.

If you like a good knife try these.

    http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B0019K67MA/...de=asn&creative=22782&creativeASIN=B0019K67MA

They're the carbon steel version of Opinel's great little kitchen knife.
Far nicer than any stainless blade but alas, quickly disappearing from
    stores (even direct from Opinel).

I bought 8 (4 boxed pairs) last time I ordered. Hopefully they'll see me
    out.
