Yes. You should be aware that it absolutely has 145k on the clock

  5. VF1000F or VF1000R?

  6. The "F" has,as you should know chain driven cams.
The "R" is much less common and has gear driven ones.
Both "allegedly" had marginal oil delivery to the cams.
The rear head is supposedly the most at risk. There's a semi active
owners group for the "R" at Yahoo.
Both bikes are fast but HEAVY. Parts are becoming scarce, especially
    for the "R".

Or maybe the clocks have been replaced, or turned back, or it was run
for 5 years without a speedo cable....

On a 20-year-old bike, unless it's you know its full history, the
number currently displayed on the odometer is just barely useful as a
    guide.

....and my 39-year-old bike has a genuine 2000 miles on the clock.
That's why I said "unless it's you know its full history" (although I
meant to say "unless you know its full history").

its not an R. i payed 2500......it came with a gearsack + rack. i think its
    a good price(W.A.)
it has a new oil system added to it that lubes the overhead cams?
and ive just noticed that when i lean it to the side for a while i begins to
    leak oil :(
its really fast tho, kind of feels like a train when it comes to corners
tho!... it sits very high as well i can see above cars easy
despite its weaknesses tho i love it already :)

Personally, I think you should pay " HEAPS" . My 1984 VF 1000R has
done 18,000 KM..Bought new in June , 1984. Not ridden for years, but
    in a slow rebuild ..

Pay heaps ....I need to get the prices up...

  12. The "new oil system" is a bonus :)
BTW Ryco z79A oil filters work well.

if its only done 18,000klms and not ridden in years, why the ****

I just want to check ... Parked it in 1991, and will drop motor out
for check over. New brake parts of course, have a " top end oil kit "
from USA, new RK Gold Chain, new front and rear sprockets , new tank
from USA, near new mufflers, and so it goes on..

  15. No shit batman?
No, that was the VF750, and only early models of the VF750F. Get your
    infor right.
    I've owned two R's and a 750F and never had a problem. They aren't
everyone's cup of tea, but the oil delivery to the cams was a very
very rare thing. If the bike is still running, it doesn't have that
problem, that aint hard to figure.
Well of course they are heavy, you are talking 20 year old bikes. I
still have a soft spot for the R though.

  17. Probably silly question but why would anyone buy a new bike 22 years
ago and only have 18,000 on it ? :-(
