Good, local is flogging an 83 in very average condition, asking
    $1400.( unregistered).
Nice stainless exhaust system. I know they had cam, cam/cam chain probs.

if you wanna blow $1400 go for it. if the engine does die, then they
are not worth $0.00.... As much as I love VF/VFR and loved my VF, it
went like shit off a shovel for its day, it just isnt worth the risk
with engine rebuilds being quoted at more than the bikes new price -
$3500+ and that was back in early 90's.

  7. You don't like jokes, yet you consider buying a VF750F.

    Methinks you are the comedian.

    Kind regards

I agree, how he was considered a comedian is one of lifes great
mysteries. Like why is Howard still PM ?

  13. The 'few' that had cam problems would have been fixed many, many years
ago under warrantee. (about 3% had the problem) You would be lucky to
find one with dodgy cams that had survived this long.

The cam chain tensioner does need regular checking, but as long as it is
maintained, should be ok. It's pretty obvious when the chain/tensioner
is in need of adjustment or replacement due to the noise it makes.

Other than that, the exhaust collector box and mufflers did rust out on
mine. Easily fixed with a Laser 4 into 1, which also sounded great, and
needed no changes to the jetting.

I still regret selling mine. Apart from the exhaust rusting, I had no
real issues with it at all in the 5 years I had mine (second hand when I
    bought it).

As with any second hand bike, check it out carefully. You may just find
    a gem, or a lemon.
