No idea, although they had almost 19 minutes to change a can and download a
different map. Perhaps they had two fellows working on it simultaneously.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that Two Brothers didn't even have the mojo
to remap the GTR1400 at that time, given all the new KI-PASS malarkey.

I'm trying to recall the last time MrC posted about riding one of his
    bikes.

I like reading his travel reports but they are mostly of trips using
    public transport, intimidating fellow pedestrians...

Issa Guzzi, innit. I didn't think you liked Guzzis.

Our friendly local mechanic does, though, which is a plus.
M&S for underpants, not for bikes.

List price is about £8500-9000 depending on spec.

Some dealers have been knocking out pre-reg 2006 bikes for £7k.
Unfortunatley I seem to be a bit late on the uptake and finding one at
    that price is proving difficult.

The dealer in Worcester has one on back order, selling for list price.
The factory is about to close for its summer shutdown. I doubt there
will be any decent deals until late autumn or next year.

In so much as one can say a B650 is boring compared to an R6. Apples and

I've only ridden one and it suprised me by being much better handling than I
    expected.

But it was still depressingly slow.
Having now seen the list price I don't think that's going to be an issue.

    [snip crap salesman]
    heh, quite.

It's a shame you're so far from the Glorious South and Carl Rosner's,
purveyor of fine motorcycles to discerning gentlemen:

Him (Carl's son, Robert): Hello, may I help you?
Me: Yes, I'm thinking of changing my bike for something new and a
Sprint ST is on the shortlist.
    Him: Have your ridden one?
    Me: No
Him: OK - here's the keys to that 07 ABS model over there <points>
<about 45 minutes pass while I ride off and he looks over my 9R as
    possible p-ex>
<I arrive back and we spend 10 mins discussing purchase price[1] &
    trade-in value>
Me: It's really nice, but I'm not making a decision now. I'll get back
    to you.
Him: No problem, give me a call when you can.

Which I did and I picked up the new bike the following week.

[1] New, but 06 model without ABS or hard luggage.

    Exactly.

If I was going to buy a naked bike I'd probably go for an Aprillia
Tuono but get the factory version with all the sparkly bits fitted
    from new.

Who needs reliability when you've got another bike in the garage?
