I've just spent an hour trundling round Swindon trying to buy a vice
big enough to squeeze me hub bearings back in. B&Q et al only do 100mm
(too small)[1], & none of the proper tool shops open on Saturdays[2].
There goes my plans for getting the MV finished today then[3].

Go shopping! Take your time going around the shops before that lovely
impulse buy. I am now wearing some Alpine Stars "Bat" leather
    trousers which are lovely.

I was going to go shopping. I have been out today to drop the mongvan
off to get the head tightened and a mot and was intending to go shopping
but it was cold and I changed my mind and came straight home. I am
going to stay home now until I go out tomorrow. Although I might go
round to the bakers for a cake. Not that I need a cake or anything
because I have a perfectly good test cake here but I don't really like
it so I might pop out and buy myself a cake. I rather fancy a jam
doughnut. Well I don't but the Swiss fingers are not the same since
they changed ownership but worst of all they don't have real cream in
their cakes and make a point of advertising the low fat content of their
artificial cream cakes. "What is the point," I keep telling them, "a
cake is a treat and treats aren't treats unless they are bad for you."
It hasn't changed their attitudes any though. Which is a shame because I
do hanker after a fresh cream eclair every now and then.

Assuming hub bearings of the wheel type.
    1 15" of 5/8th" dia studding plus 3 nuts.
2 2 pieces of flat plate about the same size as the bearings with a just
over 5/8th hole in the middle of each
    3 Spanners to suit nuts.

Lock 2 nuts on one end of the studding. Put flat plate over studding. Pass
studding through bearings and hub. Put other plate onto studding and add
    nut.
Tighten nut while holding other end with spanner or grips until bearings are
    installed.

Adjust the diameters of the studding if smaller hole in bearing etc.

You'd have a job pulling in an MV hub bearing with that method. The
inner dia of the bearing is huge, you'd simply warp the steel plate into
the inner portion unless it was about 1/2 thick plate.

  7. That's not quite true. You can go in and asked for 1lb and 4oz of finest
steak mince (I'm thinking of making burgers tomorrow) - as long as he
    sells you the kg equivilent.

Ewww - I hate shopping. S'ok now anyway - 30 mins in the oven expanded
the hub enough for the bearings to slip in with a light tap. Don't know
why I didn't try that in the first place really - twat.

I did contemplate something along those lines, but decided to just
stick it in the oven instead. Sorted.

Not sure of the correct response to this one. It's either:

    A) Haha. ha.

    or:

    B) You've never owned a bike with a single-sided swingarm before have
    you.

I would suggest paying a women to make proper cakes for you. With
sugar in the whipped cream and stuff like that just like those trendy
    Éúrópéáns.

To take advantage of the lovely (but cold) sun & blue sky I'm going to
go out for a bimble and then take my soon to depart (from our lovely
country) lady friend out for an exotic meal.

It is strange, when you consider that in Germany, you can still ask,
regardless of the assistants age, for a pound of beef or whatever.

Nah, the cafe's open Saturdays so I'm free to cause havoc. Today's a
play day too, so I'm trying to fit the new chain. Unfortunately it's a
rivet link jobbie, & I've yet to work out how to convince it to play
nicely. I don't think my chain tool would be up to the job even if I
    knew which bit went where.

Oh, I've also drained the coolant - mostly up my sleeve into my armpit.
