Bwaahaahaa ! Lost two wives already, but still claims "Luckily my new girlfriend loves my hobby." Yeah, that'll last. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. He won't give a **** if it doesn't. He'll still be a modeller and they're (and I'm includung me in the "they") are as obsessed with models as we are with bikes and I wonder how many here would give up biking coz 'er indoors wanted them to? Not one, would be my guess. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
agreed, my bunch of mates who all ride bikes, all originally met on Barkston Heath flying field in Lincs. Modelling just faded rather than was pushed out by the missus, bikes just seemed to have taken over. I'm sure we will all go back when the final hip replacement or similar forces us to.
Well no, but nearly all of the successfully married amongst us recognise that biking is a something we're 'allowed', and that there's usually something to be given in return. If this guy's already lost two wives 'cos he doesn't understand that, I wouldn't hold out much hope for the current bird. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. Unless you've done what some of us did, and marry somene who was/is into bikes as well. Does present a problem when you've restored a 400 Four for yourself and your SO claims it, though....

Or a VC-10. I saw one taking off from Filton this afternoon, good it was, big grey noisy fucker. -- platypus "Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative."
You should've bought his&hers 400/4s then. I mean, given how long the two of you've been married, I'm surprised the thought hasn't occured to you.
They're not quiet, are they? I remember on a stop-over in... donno, Rangoon, possibly, and I was standing outside the terminal when a VC10 took off. Great crackling roar that I felt as much as heard. I like VC10s.
Specced for hauling full loads out of places like Nairobi. Apparently, the reason BAe kept running BAC 1-11s at Filton was to keep their pilots current on rear-engined aircraft, as they had a lot of work on turning the VC-10s into tankers. Oh yes, me too. -- platypus "Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative."
Yeah, I've been in a BOAC one between <somewhere-I-forget-where> and <somewhere-else> in the Far East, and flew out to Germany and back in a RAF one, rearward-facing seats and all. Hmm. Brize Norton. I think I flew out of there on a C130 once. This was back in the days when they still sometimes handed out boiled sweets on airliners. To my surprise, a crewman was walking round with a tray, handing out small packets; these turned out to be ear defenders. We soon found out why.
