A mate has just had an ECU failure and the dealer is claiming it
cannot be covered by warranty beacuse a Power Commander is fitted.
I was under the impression that they had to show that the failure was
caused by an aftermarket component.Am I talking bollocks? Anyone got
any links to the relevant legislation? IIRC correctly it was do with
the ending of the motor vehicle block exemption.

Give Dynojet a call & ask them. Or just pull the PC off & take the bike
    to a different dealer.

Since the Power Commander does plug directly into the ECU there's actually
a chance that the dealer is right. Regardless of whether the PC caused
the failure, the PC is an aftermarket component and even if it was installed
by the dealer (I think at one time you could buy a PC III for my FJR1300
directly from Yamaha) having a PC installed probably does make any ECU
failure an automatic out of warranty claim.

In other words, even though it shouldn't be this way, the burden of proof
will probably fall on your friend to prove the PC DIDN'T cause the failure.
