Thanks to all who posted and gave valuable advice.
2003 Firestorm with 520k's is now in the garage. Only one problem - it
    sounds like a Virago.
Anyone got anything against fitting a couple of carbon fibre Arrow cans? In
Brissie so can anyone suggest the best place to buy them without getting
    reamed?
    Thanks again.

What about Yoshi's? I would prefer them over Arrow's but I was told that you
can't get carbon Yoshi's for the Firestorm. True? or does the guy have his
    hand on his knob?

you sure cant get leo vince carbon cans anymore for the VTR, apparently the
vibration from the motor destroys them.

Yeah. If you're actually replacing parts with light, carbon
fibre ones that at least MAKES SENSE, but metal exhaust cans
wrapped in carbon fiber are actually HEAVIER than they would
be if they were just metal cans! IT'S STUPID!

Thanks. Looking into a set of Yoshi RS-3 stainless cans at the moment.
    Around $1300 they reckon.

Nice work! If you end up half as happy as we are with ours, well,
    you'll, um, be happy. yes.

As the good BVR has mentioned, any cans will make a vast improvement.
Personally, we've got a set of Staintunes - the standard low-mount
version. Not sure if they still make them, as their website only lists
the high-rise pipes now (which I _think_ I prefer, but am not yet sure
how they'd go with a pillion - although the heated seat would be
    spot-on these colder mornings!!!)

I quite like the sound of the staintunes, actually, although they are
very loud. Mine came without the little tailpipe restrictors which are
meant to shut it up a fair bit, so I can't really comment on how they
sound with them in. Hopefully a fair bit quieter. Hopefully not much
different. Very deep, throaty note - lets you hear the engine firing,
    especially under load.

I'm more of a polished stainless man myself, and can't quite justify
the (normally) higher price for Carbon, when you know it's not going
to last as long. As others have said, Carbon doesn't like getting hot,
and it doesn't like UV light either, but that can be fixed with an
anti-UV clear coating. Most reputable brands come with that already
on, but some ultra-cheapies might skip it. Again, don't know for
certain, but have had dealing with carbon-fibre car bits (bonnets,
wing-blades, etc), and learnt the downsides there. Why do people use
it? Cause it's light, it's strong, and race-teams don't care about the
    cost of replacment!

    </end Carbon-fibre tutorial mode>

As regards to where, we get most of our gear from Pro Honda in
Rocklea. They usually look after us since we bought the bike there,
and we're pretty happy with the service that we get. *shrug* It would
probably pay to have a walk down Moss St one Saturday morning, and see
    what's on offer there.

Anyway, once again, good work, and you can now look forward to being
the defacto alarm clock for your entire neighbourhood!

    Thanks!
