WA Police Hard on Motorcyclists?

A web forum, Netrider, has a thread about electronic ID tags for bikes. One guy
said this about WA Police:

'You guys over east need to realise just how great the hatred towards
motorcycles is in Perth. It is phenomenal. The police regularly go out of their
way to push the idea that motorcyclists are ALL "hoons". Many many times the
police have specifically tagged motorcyclists are a "problem group".'

To our WA bretheren, is it really that bad over there?

 

I haven't been pulled over yet on my bike. But generally I don't ride
like a dickhead.

The bloke in that thread sounds like a bit of a tosser.
The only time I have ever been pulled over by the coppers in Perth is for
RBTs and for riding across a dual use footpath/cycleway , I have found the
coppers to be OK , not anything like what that bloke has said in that
thread.

If you ride like a tosser then the coppers will stop you.

The few times I've ridden in Perth it was just like riding elsewhere.
Bike cops return nods, chat at lights, and shake a finger at you if you
ride with only one hand on the bars. Car cops ignore you except at RBTs
or if they catch you hooning.

in Sydney the cops hang out on the local racer roads and go for hoons,
as they do pretty well anywhere. Nothing special about Perth there!

I understand there is some uncomfortable history between (parts of) the
WA force and some of the patch clubs, but I've seen no evidence that
they are down on bikes in general.

Yeah , part of it is due to some members of a patched club killed an ex
high ranking copper with a car bomb a few years ago in retaliation for the
ex copper shooting dead a member outside the ex copper's pub in the bush.

If you go around murdering people just because you don't like the look
of them, you have to expect payback eventually. I know you never get the
full story from the media, but from the parts of the story of which I am
aware, the ex-copper got exactly what he asked for.

 

If you hang around in kindergarten, you'll hear lots of kiddies

No, it appears to be an ongoing media or Gov't push to blame the bad
people on bikes for the road toll. Cue Craig Dorrington. The coppers
got a two-way camera on trial last year and said it could be anywhere
you least expected it, they were never going to reveal it's
whereabouts. As it later turned out, they never got the camera at
all. Now someone (I suspect Dorrington) is suggesting that we
should fit all motorcycles with an electronic ID tag. So, when you
disable your tag, how will they identify you? Sigh!
