I think he is on about the A483 (or 438 can't remember the sequence)
from Newtown down to Crossgates on the A44. It's a bonkers road on a
sports bike. High death rate and Powys trafpol have a base at the
northern end so it is not the road for Sunday daytime antics. Sat late
    pm probably okay, though.

I haven't seen or heard about helicopters this year on the country roads
in Powys. Camera vans occasionally but more likely on the A470 between
Brecon & Merthyr. Herefordshire spend very little time chasing speeders.
Hardly any cameras in the county. Glos police are keen, but not on that
    road via Newent.
some excellent roads in there but few places you would want to stop at.
The hairpin bends on the A44 west of New Radnor are a good place to
stop for a laugh. Watch idiots attempt to go knee down and see the
    occasional lowside.

If I went on two wheels I'd be inclined to pick up the A44 at Oxford and
take it as far as possible. The real fun starts before Evesham and it
    was ludicroudly good fun.

Most of it was probably the novelty of near-empty roads. The M40 and M25
were solid on the way back. Stationary traffic all over.
I knew I was going to have fun when i saw the "Ride Safe" boards up by
the side of the road. If I was a local I'd have those covered up with
"Good luck" and "God speed" stickers in a heartbeat.

Yeah that's it. There's only one camera on that route -

Only ever seen one speedtrap in all the years I've been doing it too, &
that was in Ashperton. Unfortunately I didn't see it soon enough,
mainly because the **** was actually standing in someone's garden,
pointing his hairdryer through a gap in the hedge.

I lived near Crossgates for a year when I was 19. I dread to think how
many times I did that road (& the rest of it down to Builth) on my
    RD250.

The 'forest bends' as they're known. Plenty have gone over the edge on
the second right-hander (when heading west).

Those boards are everywhere around here. If I'm still in this place after I
graduate next summer I might arrange a fest. Loads of crash space & a lawn
for campers. Now that you will evangelise Wales as the place with empty,
fun roads it might not be such a job to get people interested. I'd just
need a DFV to lead the gauntlet run through the 6 police divisions within a
40 mile radius. I'd do a single track route over the mountain passes.

We might be doing a boys night out in Bridgnorth inside the next few
weeks and I'm sure you'd be welcomed if you wanted to pop over.

We won't try to get you so pissed that you agree to any kind of lunacy
suggested and we won't call you a wuss if you do agree and try to get
out of it at a later date.

I thought it was the other way around. Alex replied to a post the day
before which is why I thought you jested about Bridgnorth

No YTC, to the EAST( ----> as you look at the map) of the 5418, ie 483
over the Dolfor, Newtown <> Crossgates.

The West Midland chopper worries about the area of Bridgenorth when its
got nothing better to do. I'm not actually aware of any arial 'beat'
for those choppers of a leek munching persuasion. I'm sure they're
available but certainly never seen in my years of using the area.
Perhaps I'm just lucky, or travelling far too slowly.
