Want to run silent with a really loud horn option??

The option is an airhorn, the type used on a diesel locomotive. I found this
story on a welding discussion group.

This person has also built a new single carb manifold for his early model
Goldwing. It seems to work better than the orginal carb setup

    Cut and pasted below:

So I'm goofing around in the shop, and I have this set of P-3 Nathan
Airchimes from a diesel locomotive, just sitting on the shelf collecting
dust. I start looking at my Goldwing. Now, there was no beer involved, but
neverless, something weird happened. This thing is really fun. One of my
friends was riding by in the opposite direction yesterday and i gave him a
little toot. He said he damn near fell off of his bike laughing.

I went on a ride for 3 days. At one point I was on a road that crosses
railroad tracks just before a traffic light. 2 cars were stopped clear, and
the moron in the third car stopped ON the tracks in an area where the trains
go by at 70 MPH. He will probably remember me for a while.

    Beemer,

Had you tried using a relay for the hi-current required for the more
powerful horns? I put dual auto-horns on my bike this last winter, and ran
the horn button output into a relay's input, and used a fused connection to
the battery on the other side of the relay. Works like a champ, and only
spent about $25 total for the horns (Harbor Freight) and relay (Radio
    Shack).

No more little wimpy 'meep meep', now my bike is HEARD when I want it to
    be.

<grin> That's what I'd call "clearing the air".. in every sense of the
    term.. huh ?

I've been riding my old sled for over eight years now.. I keep riding with a
lot of my friends and some of them have air horns.. Every time I ride with
them, I keep telling myself that I need to get me a set of those puppies,
because I get tired of the "beep.. beep" .. For some silly reason, when I
get around someplace to buy them, I'll find another piece of chrome that
looks good and is functional.. Dangit.. there I go.. distracted again..
LOL.. ah well .. maybe this year..

BTW .. did the young fellow living in Houston, wanting to ride with someone,
follow up and get in touch with you ?

    Regards..

absolutely, undoubtedly, an incredible master of creativity (!)
I like the way the ''Horns'' look from the front.
When we've discussed ''noise'' being some what of a safety factor in
here, well, this is the ultimate form.
I noticed, the middle horn, pertrudes thru the ''windShield''......
I aim to send this to a couple of Bike friends who do not frequent this
    TX.moto group. whatAdeal.....bjay.....

Funny how thing come around in a circle. I have ordered a remote operating
switch, that should be fun, unless someone else finds my frequency.

If it's not on a locomotive any more, can it still be considered a
    locomotive horn?

them...I've always voted for the guys in favour of
    SMALLER government.
