  5. Some Boeing twins can't meet the ETOPS requirements and they still fly.

They can't maintain altitude with a full load on one engine. Their
excuse is if an engine failure occurs at cruse altitude, they can reach
an airport within the distance/time requirements with sufficient
altitude left to do a safe landing.
FAA just allow them to bend the rules.

(This information was provided to me by a CAA guy in a bar while on
    holiday, so..............)

At least in the early days there was no interwebby thing to give your
machine a dose. Steer clear of pikey copied stuff on floppies and you
were OK. In fact the Apple II Europlus I introduced at the place I
worked then was the first 'PC' in the organisation and we never put
anything in to it except original software discs and discs written on
    that machine.

No it's not; it's a string which contains encoded code within,
in an attempt to hide what it is actually doing. Once decoded
it uses the byte verify security hole in Java to run malicious
    code.

Of course, now that the av teams know of this weakness it
is easy to look for this method of obscuring the code.

Unless it's a proper AV like McAfee that can scan zip files too.
