    For the car, in particular.

Next year's road trip looks like it may crystallise round a trip to the
F1 at Spa followed by MotoGP at Misano a week later.

So I'm trying to find a pleasant route between the two, preferably
    avoiding Swiss motorways.

Any good suggestions? Ideally I'd work in three overnight stops en route
from Spa to Misano, so it doesn't need to be particularly direct.

    Ta.

SE to Stuttgart, Ulm. South, over Fernpass into Austria near Landeck
(obvious overnight opportunity). Motorway over Brenner pass or pick one of
the more sceneic routes e.g. Timmelsjoch, Brenner old road. South down past
Verona. Lake Garda would be another fab overnight stop. Malcesine maybe
(just check the hotel has somewhere to park).

Some sections of the autobahn around Stuttgart have no speed limit. Plenty
of opportunity for scenic detours rather than using the motorways. You'd
pass between several ranges of Dolomites around Bolzano. Near the
    Austria/Germany border crossing is

Check out the Enzian's sister hotels for alternative accommodation. Colin &
Pat liked the Gran Paradiso in the Dolomites.

    bad form etc

Yes, the route does enter Germany, but it does not go into the Black Forest
at all or Bad Wurrtemburg (except on the relatively safe autobahn). Rozzers
in Bavaria have a much better sense of humour and tolerance of enthusiastic
driving IME. Although, that might only apply if you have a propeller
    badge...

That route sounds alright actually. Landeck is a known quantity and
while I've already seen Ludwig's folly as a kid, V would probably like
    it.

Well it'd be in the car, which I've only had up to 140 and obviously it
doesn't get there quite as swiftly as a litrebike. But yeah, if I'm in
Germany I'll be avoiding acting the **** in the Balingen area for
    obvious reasons.

I've just been pricing things up. It's not going to be cheap. But it'd
be a doozie of a holiday.

  5. I like the sound of that.

Fairly similar to what I did a couple of years ago - Nordschleiffe ->
Italian Passes -> Var -> Beaune -> Home

Kempten is a nice little town in the Allgäu Region handy for heading
off over the Stelvio - Nice hotels in and out of the town center.
