I'm bikeless for a week it seems. I went out for a bimble with two of my
mates sunday. They showed me some ace roads[1] (like your B roads)
through the interior mountains. Some long sweepers, some really twisty
bits, not much traffic and only 1 plod. Coming into town for lunch, we
got into a bunch of stop and go traffic (tailback, eh?). Looking at the
clocks, I noticed the temp was ver hot and a few seconds later the
emergency stop light came on. I hit the kill switch and coasted into a
parking lot and some shade. It was fecking hot this weekend, 32C. After
acquiring a second degree burn on my pointy finger, I found the fan had
    seized.

So much for finishing the ride. After letting it cool off for a bit I
started it up and keeping a mindful eye on the temp made it to the
    closest freeway and back home.

I dropped it off at my local Suzuki shop monday night, they just rang to
let me know the fan was indeed hosed and it'll be a week to get parts.
    Bugger, I miss it already.

[1] Tesla Road and Morgan Territory Road[2].
[2] If anyone makes it over here in future, we'll do this ride.

Hmm, I thought you'd crashed it from the heading :)

A broken fan seems relatively minor and should be covered under
warranty too I would have thought.

Still considering the PCIII - though the forums seem to think you need
to disable the O2 sensors in UK bikes and that's starting to sound like
far too much hassle for something I can ride around/through (3.5k
hiccup and the slight on/off bit)

It os covered, but it'll still take a week to get the part.
It took 15 minutes to install. I doubt that there is any difference
between a UK bike and a CA bike. I'd ask the Dynojet folks.

    Still costs ?285!

On one forum I saw it mentioned several US bikes getting new ECU's from
Suzuki under warranty, which fixes a lot of the fuelling issues.

I've asked my local (UK) dealer to check with Suzuki if there is indeed
a new ECU available for K5 models.

Suzuki UK claim that " the fuel map used in US bikes is completely
different to UK models and therefore the ECU replacement offer is not
    applicable".

Except they then go on to say "Some customers in the UK have found that
having the bike tuned on a Yoshimura system can improve the lean
fueling in parts of the range"

So, the fuel map is COMPLETELY different, yet the problem is EXACTLY
    the same.

I'm of the opinion Suzuki can't be arsed to change European (or at
least UK) ECU's rather than the problem not existing.
