Was I the only one...

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Whinging Courier, Apr 4, 2006.

  1. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Beelzebub belched forth and ejected the
    following:
I've had all of those symptoms and still have some from time to time.

    The quote about:
"The doctors said it was the largest reported ecstasy lifetime
consumption by one person, the previous being around 2,000 tablets."
is cobblers because for about 5 years I was taking between 5 and 15 a
    week.

I've also used all the others to some degree, the worst being
amphetamines; I got booked into a loony bin for six months after several
years on 3 or 4 grams a day.

Still, I don't regret it for a moment. Had I not jumped out of the track
of my life's record, I might've ended up like darsy.

on my part, boredom - after a frantic few months[1] I'm finally on top
    of most stuff at work.

[1] including getting caught up in interdepartmental politics, which
as you may recall isn't something I normally do. It's actually very
easy when you realise that most people doing it are stupid.

I've had a great series of calls this week, going 3 layers of management
above my boss. It's been fun, and things are actually happening for a
    change.

I'm not quite sure the moment when I delegated work to my manager was
quite the right thing to do, but WTF.

serf. I don't have 3 layers of management above my boss.
upwards delegation is a perfectly valid management pattern - I do it
    all the time.

it was necessary - I didn't derive much pleasure from it.

yeah, sure sure - I know. I only have to go up 2 levels to hit someone
on the EXCOM, but I know your org is several magnitudes larger than
    mine.

    I didn't say I didn't derive /any/ pleasure from it.

Getting people demoted isn't actually entirely productive, as you
still have to work with them, and obviously there's a whole lot of
    resentment going on.

I got much more satisfaction from having someone's contract terminated
in Paris and having the headcount transferred to a permanent FTE in my
    team in London.
