Was it THAT Mark Williams?

Just watched a "Love or Money" episode on Channel 4 tonight, about this poor
publishing executive who got embroiled in a love affair with a drug
    trafficker.

Called Mark Williams, rode a bike, publishing. Could it be the first editor
of "Bike", the creator of "Jalopy", Running out of Road, Highway 66
Revisited and all that? Always had a bit of a penchant for the illegal. Had
a great chum called Felix Dennis - maybe of Dennis Publishing fame?

    Poor bastard.

If anyone's interested (and maybe most know anyway), some of his writings
when he came back from "his enforced hiatus" as he calls it, are online at
    http://www.paganotter.org.uk/misc/insidel/insidel1001.html and further
columns are available from links at the bottom. I feel quite sad for the
poor sap. Maybe TOG knows him through his *dealings* in the same trade. I
mean the bike rags, of course ....

  5. Um, not *that* close ;-)

He's a helluva nice guy, mind. And he's rebuilt his life a lot since
that programme was made, so hats off.

Mark Williams does indeed write a monthly column for RealClassic, but that
link goes to one of someone else's.

  9. Yep. he kicked off[1] with kung fu magazines in the late 1970s, started
a publishing company called Bunch Books, moved into all sorts of
ventures. Got the golden touch, no question.

    [1] Ha!

    You mean "HEE-YAH!", I believe.

    Good attempt, though ;-)

He's only been in the paper version of the magazine so far, and if I try and
tell you that it's only available by subscription from
http://www.RealClassic.co.uk/subscribe you'll only moan at me for despoiling
the purity of a news group with a commercial posting...

That's where I've seen him, because I've already subscribed. This isn't
necessarily a good thing - the only other bike mag I've subscribed to in
    recent years was MotoRetro...
