Well I was cooped up all day inside and I really wanted to get out and
ride. Since I couldn't, I did the next best thing.

I wheeled the bike out of the garage into the warm sunlight and
proceeded to give it a good washing. It was fairly dirty and needed
it. I also lubed the chain while I was at it, and then I started it
and let it run for a few minutes.

It probably needs a coat of wax, but at least I got to spend some time
with the bike before I had to put it back in the garage. ;-)

Yeah, I know.....you want some wine with the cheese?

LOL.. you don't wanna know.. Ol' Fullstate has got himself one of those
eyetalian Ducati's .. and he can't speak a damn word of that language.. Now
I spent a lot of my service time in Japan.. at least I learned enough of
that language to carry on a conversation with my Kawasaki..

Last time Fullstate and I rode, I noticed he had to wear some kind of
earplugs because of translation purposes, I think..

Besides. he's lying about washing that thing today.. I hurt his feelings a
little while ago.. When he first got hurt, by questionable reasons.. I
graciously offered to let him two up with me and go for a ride.. Today .. I
told him I was taking back my offer.. He can't two up with me anymore.. He's
been pouting ever since.. He didn't wash that bike, I bet'cha..LOL

I don't use chain wax. I use WD-40 to clean and de-grease the chain
and then I use chain lube on it. It's an o-ring chain, but I'll
probably swap it with an x-ring chain when the time comes.

The term " 'Priller" is good 'ol Texas drawl and slang for "Aprilia"
    which is what I ride.

Or, if you listen to Bill, it's just that eye-talian bike.

    BLASPHEMER!!!! I don't ride a duck. I can't afford a duck. Or
rather, I can afford the duck but I can't afford to keep the duck
    maintained.

I ride the competitor to the duck. The OTHER eye-talian bike.
Last time we rode I didn't have them in!! So there....nyahhh!!!
It's cleaner than your ass.....but that isn't saying much. ;-)

Tacky ... Tacky.... LOL.. I just cannot believe that one of my long time
friends would even make such a comment.. After being threatened with "crutch
whipping" and other atrocities, you would actually announce to the world
that my rear end hygenics is inferior.. I can't believe you Fullstate...
Go on out to California, or someplace... you have become very belligerant..
I can't help but believe that you are still "pouting" because I withdrew my
offer to let you two up with me..

I quit using chain oil...got tired of having a black back rim! I do
clean with the WD stuff, but then I wax it each time I get back, when
    chain is hot....that's just me.

This chain thing is a subject I am especially punchy about.. In July.. I
threw pieces of chain all over the desert about twenty five miles east of El
    Paso.. sheesh.. what a feeling..

That chain was fairly new and I do service a chain.. All recommended
treatments are applied.. Anyone who rides with me regularly has been exposed
to my "chain fetish".. "hey guys..spray this on while I roll this puppy..
    OK"

That sucker commenced to fly apart with no warning and the bride and I were
in the middle of nowhere, on the side of the road..Thank god for the good
bikers who came by and graciously made sure that we got into El Paso where
we could get that damn chain replaced..

I've got a new chain on the Green One and I still clean it and lube it with
a religious ferocity.. I'm not sure it makes the difference but I'm
convinced that I have to do something to that damned thing.. LOL

    Have a gooden..

  11. Bjay here: I have heard of that happening...never knew anybody
personally that it did.But it looks like it would tear up the sprocket:
cause a wreck...and so 4th? Could it have just been the chain was
LOOSE? That's what I always worry about......wondering if I have it just
    tight enuff.......bj

Sorry .. can't really say.. bjay.. I serviced the bike just the day before..
and I checked the chain and carefully lubed it.. It was fine at that point..
What happened later during that trip is anybody's guess.. That was one
helluva ride when she jumped naked on me, though.. I expected to have to
replace that custom seat, by the time I'd crossed three lanes of pretty
heavy traffic.. No matter how much it cost or how customized it is, no one
in their right mind would want to ride a seat with all those holes in it..
Fortunately.. the seat was not damaged and is just fine..
