Wasps...

  1. So there have been a few around recently. Lots infact.

I noticed the fuckers flying in and out of the roof, crawling under
    tiles.

Inspecting in my loft space there's a small area I can only get to by
wrigging down a four foot passage that's about 2 to 3 feet by 2 feet.
At the end of this there's a chamber about four feet high by eight feet
    long by six feet deep.

Sure enough there's a wasp nest there about the size of one and a half
    footballs.

I've managed to spray it with wasp killing foam, twice, this evening.
Everytime I spray a few wasps take umbrage and fly towards me. I exit
banging arms and my head as I try to squeeze through gaps far too small
    for fast movement in.

About to have another go. All a bit bloody scary really.

Use a flame thrower on the stripey little fuckers.

If you're scared by the thought of using fire then a Co2 extinguisher
will see them off the premises.

There was a wasp nest in my loft several years ago. I called the council
Environmental Health but they would only remove it if they were causing a
problem. As they weren't I just left it until later on in the year when
    they'd all buggered off/died.

I then just cleared the empty nest with a vacuum cleaner. Never had any
    wasps back since.

I wouldn't have a go clearing it whilst the wasps are active, especially
as you're working in such a cramped position.

We get a decent sized nest in the oft most years, as well as dozens of
little ones, of a different species. Fortunately the bog one's always
in the same place, which is quite open, so I can get close enough with
a decent getaway[1] to completely soak the fucker with insecticide. I
find ordinary cans quite effective, simply spraying for a while to get
it wet, then going back for a repeat an hour or so later, then repeat
until the nest is clearly soaked through. Job done.

Sometimes I get around to sweeping the bodies up, sometimes they sit
    around for a while.

[1] My escape route involves taking a couple of steps backward,
through the door and close it behind me.

Leave them alone you ****. Wasps are people too.

Seriously, he local council will get rid of them for about £90 if it's that
    much of a problem.

  8. Just leave it. It'll be autumn and then winter soon. Wasps never return
to the same nest. The colony dies off (well, most do) and come the
winter you can simply remove it.

Buy some nippon powder. I've destroyed several nests with it. As long as
a few wasps get into the hive with some on their bodies, you've
    destroyed the swarm

spray it around the area they are using to enter the roof space so at
least several will get it on their bodies as they fly under the tiles

Have a beer, watch TV, get a good night's sleep and note how much less
air traffic there is the next day

got stung the other day - little bastard crawled in my t-shirt and stung
    me on the neck

Kill them all, Who cares if the eat garden pests and pollinate flowers

my 21st birthday, riding along - had one fly in through the open
visor, stung me till I stopped - ripped off the helmet to better
inspect the damage, my cheek started doing a good imitation of a
hamster at food time while I watched - touch and go if I could get the
helmet back on after a few minutes!

Not actually the same nest, as the old one will have been soaked with
nisecticide and removed, but it leaves some bits hanging on the
rafters, and next year, or the year after, another bunch come along
and see it as a great place to build a new one.
