weird tyre follow pics

    it's not a bother from a riding POV, I just think it looks weird
    (blame years of working in marketing)
    I'll measure it at the weekend, but as i said before, the tyre's
    rating is per the manufactures instruction, and as far as I can see,
    the rear spindle etc. is standard.

    Most alloy wheel rims have the width stamped on them somewhere. Even the
    cast ones on Morinis and Nordwests are pretty clearly marked. So Darsy
    has no excuse for not revealing this vital piece of information.

    It isn't just a question of size though, unless they are on the wrong
    rim, as Darsy says the *tyres* are OEM fitment. Profile is important.
    Consider the old Dunlop 'triangulars' for example.

    Just remotely possible someone has had the back wheel rebuilt with a
    different rim I suppose.

    If the rim size is 4.5. I would be inclined to put a matching Dragon Evo
    on, if they are still current. Seems to suit a Nordwest at least.

    OK, I've just measured it - it the "correct rim size is bead to bead"
    then it's a 5.5" rim.
    Pete, you stupid old ****, didn't you look at the pics? They're
    stainless/spoked wheels.

    so, all would appear to be in order, other than the fact I don't like
    the look of the profile, so I'll just conclude that Pirelli Diablos
    aren't a tyre I'll replace on a 'motard.

    As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, I'm intending to put Sportmax
    Mutants on the thing.

    I suspect it's a repeating pattern of the Kanji character for "stupid
    German ex-Axis allies can't read Kanji" or something.

    Stainless spokes I'll grant you. Stainless rims on a Supermoto ? I think
    you will find the *wheel rims* are alloy. Surprised to find they have no
    markings at all - not even a maker's name?

    IIRC, they're a 5" rim, fitted with 160 tyres as standard.

    I am truly amazed to find that a supermoto that runs steel rims. Still
    as Andy would say - it's not a 'proper' one.

    No problems. Just get it warmed up and fire it in as hard as you can.

    as Veggie says, you'd need to beyond scraping the pegs to get to the
    edge of the tyre.

    well, either I don't know how to measure a rim width, or my tape
    measure is wrong. But from the outermost edge of the rim to the other
    side, it's 5.5".

    Depends on the meaning of the word supermoto. If I was building a bike
    for supermoto racing I would use wheels with alloy rims, to save weight,
    and not GAF what the tyres looked like, so long as they gripped like
    shit to a blanket.
    I suppose I must concede that the word has evolved to the point that
    function no longer dictates form.

    surely, the exact definition of a "supermoto" is a dirt bike fitted
    17" wheels and sticky race tyres. This is exactly what my LC4 is -
    it's not a "streetmoto" like the Duke; asside from the wheels it's
    pretty much identical to the offroad version of the LC4.

    Actually, they are. The Duke isn't, though. The 'motard LC4 was, and
    still is, a good bike to use for complete racing novices. The chassis is
    more than up to the job while the engine isn't overly tuned or peaky to
    be a problem for a newbie.
