Weird Tyres

So, the bike I picked up on Saturday obviously has tyres on it, but it
has Pirellis on - I've never had Pirellis on a bike before.

The (brand new) front is a Dragon Evo, and looks fairly normal.

    However, on the back there's a Diablo, and it's a funny shape[1]

It's got 25mm chicken strips on either side, and I can completely
understand why - the profile of the tyre is such that the last 20mm or
so is around 10-15 degrees off vertical - i.e. the treaded part of the
tyre is nearly a complete 1/2 circle in cross-section.

I've never seen tyres like this before - everyone other rear bike tyre
I've seen is much flatter than this.

Anyone got any experience of these tyres?

I mean, it feels fine to ride but it just looks so odd.

[1] it also has an unpleasant tread pattern, but that's by the by.

No, I'm wondering if it's actually the correct fitment for the bike -
it sort of looks like the tyre is too large for the rim, and is overly
curved to fit. (but the size appears to be correct going on Pirelli's
    website)
I like the look of tyres like Rennsports - i.e. a slashing tread
pattern in the middle, and 2-3cm of non-treaded tyre either side.
These Diablos are the opposite i.e. tread right to the edge of the
tyre, but 3cm of untreaded rubber in the middle.

It's an aesthetics thing. You wouldn't understand.

pretty much the same, but you don't need the same speed rating, and
tyres suitable for slightly lighter bikes.

that's what it looks like, but...
width? no idea. It's the standard KTM wheel.
....the tyre is a 160/60-17, which is what is specifyed for the bike.

My Rennsports are starting to slide exiting corners. They've done 7
trackdays so I think it's about time they were put on the SV for some
road use[1] before being thrown out. I'm not sure what to fit to the
CBR next, I have some Dunlop KR364 race intermediates but they might
cook at my pace on a hot day - Danny is suggesting I stick one of his
lightly scrubbed Bridgestone slicks on the front and a Pirelli
SuperCorsa SC2 on the rear. I'm more inclined to go the Rennsport route
again because I love the way they feel and they last really well.

It's quite handy having a trackbike and a road bike that take identical
sized tyres, I'll never have to buy road tyres for the SV if I keep
running Rennsports or SuperCorsas on the CBR.

[1] The sliding just won't happen again, I don't ride anywhere near
hard enough on the road to provoke that sort of behaviour from them.

    they are.
    that's what I was thinking.
Oh, I'm not worried, but I may ask around on one of the KTM forums
    about alternative sizings.

Silly question, but you *are* sure it's a standard rear wheel, right?

I've no reason to suspect it isn't.

You had no complaints[1] about the 160/60-17 on the back of the Nordwest
    at Prescott.

[1] About the tyres at least - not counting the lack of ride height and
    performance.

Fair point, it being a Dragon not a Diablo and definitely on an original
4.5 rim. The chicken strips aren't as wide certainly, even with me
riding it. TBF, looking at it again, the tyre doesn't look "overly
    curved", as Darsy's puts it.

The over wide tyre on the wrong rim point greatly reduces the options
for tyres on the Morini, seeing as it only has a 1.85 front and 2.15
    rear.
