I bow to your superior decrepitude.

ObBirthday presents, final score was one Biggles omnibus, one Eagle
Annual compilation and assorted chocs and booze. The main pressie,
long planned, is in two pieces, both in the one true black, and awaits
collection from Louth in 10 days time.

  6. But it's very important *not* to act your age.

From 40 onwards people would say, (for example), I shouldn't ride a
motorbike and I should grow up and act my age.

In answer to that, I have much more fun in life than lots of 40 year
olds even though I have a bus pass.

I have no intention of growing up.

When will it be finished and pictures posted for ridicule?

Finished? Have you ever heard of our style of project management in the
    Sagrada Familia?

But a stage 1 of painting without decals will be ready this evening and a
1000kms route of fine Dago landscapes down to WorldSBK is planned this
    week-end.

    "were" instead of "are"

"I always thought Thunderaces were only for experienced riders."

This is in the past - "thought" is past tense, therefore you should use
    "were".

"I always think Thunderaces are only for experienced riders."

This is in the present - "think", "are".

    Isn't that simply past indicative?

Well my reading of that is that the "were" is the past indicative. If
it was a single Thunderace, would you say "I always thought the
Thunderace was only for experienced riders" (past indicative) or "I
always thought the Thunderace were only for experienced riders" (past
subjunctive)? I would use the former. Of course that doesn't mean I
    would be correct!

No, you're right. The confusion is from mention of the subjunctive - it's
all indicative - and the plurals of the past indicative and the past
    subjunctive are both "were".
