I hope it's an easily matched colour...
    Either way it's destined...

Rest easy Charmayne, the worst is behind you. Until you get another
    bike...

I've got a pink racer that my dad used to use when he was a triathalete many
moons ago. It still goes well, and I get no end of funny comments, but I
really don't care, it just adds to the character of the bike! Who said your
olds never had a sense of humour eh!

I disprove that theorey! Except it just got flogged 9 months after it was
    brand new instead. Bugger!

It'd be interesting to see the statistics on how many poeple have a small
bingle in their first three months. I know I sometimes came close but
managed to keep it together and not go wide into the countryside and stuff
myself up ... oh the joy of running too wide into corners when learning.

1st new bike; Ducati 500SL Pantah. Lasted about two weeks.
I gassed it up on the grass at Lakeside raceway spectator mound and
    discovered the lack of "lock".

2nd new bike; Suzuki VX800. About 2 days.
Rolled off the sidestand and crunched over onto the footpath while I was in
    the shop buying cigarettes.

3rd new bike; Triumph 900 Sprint. 8 days and 16 hours.
Exceeded my skill-level on the double left-hander coming onto Gardner
    Straight at Phillip Island.

I don't buy new bikes anymore.....

    Hey Charmayne,

I agree with the others ... everyone falls off, so just get back on and try
again. I bought a brand new bike (25 years ago) and my father dropped it
three days later, taking it for a quick 'spin'. The next day, I got taken
rather unceremoniously into a parking bay by a u-turning car driver and
almost broke my wrist and leg. Three weeks later, I dropped the bike and
spund 360 degrees twice while still seated, after hitting gravel on a turn.
Two years later, and 500cc larger, I got taken out by a car that went
through a red light, hit two inches behind my left leg. Many happy years
later, I still ride and enjoy it. The risks are always there, but you have
to balance them with the fun you get from riding.

Also, where'd you get the pink bike? Is that the one that was advertised in
Queensland earlier this year, with the number plate "PINK"?

If a bike is PINK enough, it really doesn't need sub-titles for the

Yes indeed the bike is a metalic Barbie pink, hence her name Barbie.

I bought it local, I wouldn't go to Queensland for a learner bike. Maybe a
bit later when I'm fixed ;-)

I'm also getting my new helmet air brushed with an angel design. Cause thats
what I am, a little (well) angel ;-)

    Cheers everyone

    1997.
The "newest' (i.e. most modern) bike I've ever bought but far from new,
    sorry.
    I bought a new Ducati 500SL Pantah in 1981, a new Suzuki VX800 in 1990 and
a New Triumph 900 Sprint in 1995 but that's it for new-bikes and me!
